It is only by fate
That any life ends
And only by chance
That it is mine...
Not yours.
Matt -the redhead teenager with a smoking and gaming obsession, once known as Mail Jeevas- slammed on the breaks, making the car come to a halt. He could see the men in suites with guns –Kiyomi Takada's armed guards- standing a few feet away from the now still car.
"Step out of the car with your hands up!" Shouted one of the men. Matt sighed and pulled his last cigarette out of his pocket, putting it in his mouth and lighting the white stick. 'I wonder where you are right now...' He thought.
"Step out of the car!" The man shouted again.
Matt sighed and opened the car door, climbing out of it slowly. 'I know you'll get away, and finally beat Near...but I wonder...will you notice I didn't make it? Will you think any less of me for dying on you? Think I was weak? Think I wasn't worth the time we spent together...plotting all of this, our childhood, growing up together or even the things we did and told to each other?'
Matt stood at the side of his red car; his hands at the side of his head and cig hanging out of his mouth. 'I wonder if my death will be on the news...is that how you will hear of my death? Will you cry for me...like you did when L died?...No, I hope you will cry more for me...for me more than any other person you have ever cried for. I guess that's a little selfish. You'd probably hit me and tell me to stop been such a loser, wouldn't you? But that's who you are. Who you have always been. Who I first met when I was seven and the person I eventually realised I love...it could have only ever been you.' Matt smiled a little as he saw the face of his best friend...his partner...his lover.
'I should get this over with...' Matt told himself. He smirked widely at the men and said something...he wasn't sure if it made any sense, until the last part. "You can't actually shoot m-!"
-Bang- -Bang- -Bang- -Bang- -Bang- -Bang-
The guns had fired and by the time Matt realised what had actually happened...he had fallen back onto the hood of his car. His entire body was now full of holes...blood dripping down from his motionless frame and down onto the floor. 'Bastards...they ruined...my car...' He thought slowly. His vision was slowly sipping away...everything was so blurry. He couldn't breath properly.
Although his vision was blurring, he could see someone walking towards him. It was a short blond haired, blue eyed young boy. The boy stopped walking and smiled widely...it was such a beautiful smile. Then out of nowhere a taller redheaded boy was running towards the blond. The redhead stopped running and stood next to the shorter boy; they were holding hands as they both smiled at Matt.
Matt knew these boys very well.
He managed a stiffened smile. 'I'm glad I met you...but...c'ya around...Mello...' Matt thought, and after one last puff off his last cigarette...he stopped breathing and the cig fell out of his mouth onto his chest.
Mello was driving as he watched the news. Matt was laying motionless on his favourite car. He had been shot a number of times.
Matt was dead.
The news reader hadn't even mentioned his name; they had just said an un-known man.
Mello continued to drive silently as tears started to rush from his eyes.
Matt was gone. Forever.
End!
The saying at the top is from the game 'Oblivion' apparently, my brother told me and I knew I had to use it in one of my fics (or rather base a fic on the saying :)
I was originally going to use it in a L X Beyond fic, but I thought it suited Matt X Mello...I might do a beyond X l one with it too...dunno yet.
Anyway, thanks for reading and let me know what you think :D
