THIS IS MY FIRST BAGGINSHIELD SLASH FIC

Bilbo stood within his doorway having just finished reclaiming his belongings from the people that had made off with them at the auction they were holding when he arrived home.

Looking to his left his eyes misted over as the memroy of Kili scarpping his boots came to mind the mud from his boots still imprinted on the box. Something Bilbo swore then and there never to erase.

Making his way further in he paused picking up the photo of his mother and turned hanging her back above the fireplace next to his father where she belonged.

The fireplace though brought back a memory he wished had waited. The thought of Thorin still hurt him so deeply. He held him as he layed dying but made sure to know that despite what happened upon the wall Thorin still held his heart.

Bilbo also told him he forgave hime for almost killing him. Thorin in return forgave him for what he did although he had no need to apologize for he now understood why he did it.

When Bilbo left Erebor those who had survived the Battle of the Five Armies swore to keep in contact with him, and when they passed through the shire would be there for tea.

Bilbo knew they would for a short time dwarves held their words strongly but then he knew he would fade from their thoughts. Dropping down on his knees Bilbo couldn't hold back and wept long and hard for Thorin, and their boys Fili and Kili.

He reached up grasping a hidden braid he had within his hair. Thorin had thought he would remove it when the scandel with the Arkenstone occured but he was his one he wouldn't break that bond they had made in LakeTown.

Standing Bilbo wiped his eyes and taking a deep breath set about making his hobbit hole home again.

10 years Later

'Will they stop that persistent knocking,' Bilbo thought as he left his study where he left his nephew to finish his teachings.

Throwing open his door he growled when he saw Gandalf.

"If your here for another adventure turn around right now I cannot afford to leave anymore with my nephew Frodo now living with me,"

"My dear BIlbo I didn't come to take you away again I came to return three special things that were lost to you many years ago but was gifted by Mahal to return only as simple beings though," Gandalf replied.

Raising his eyebrow Bilbo looked at him with uncertainity. That was until Gandalf stepped aside revealing what he thought were ghosts standing at his gate.

Grapsing his door as his knees threatened to buckle in surprise Bilbo turned to Gandalf with confused eyes.

"They are real Bilbo they were granted the chance to return home to you for the sacrifices made,"

"They..they're real," Bilbo said in almost a whisper.

His eyes misted with tears Bilbo flung himself away from his door down the few feet to his gate and into the arms of none other then Thorin Oakenshield.

"Shh my one we're home," Thorin reassured his one as Fili and Kili smiled at their uncles and wrapped them in one big hug.

"Uncle Bilbo?," came Frodo's uncertain voice from the door.

"My goodness where are my manners Thorin, Fili, Kili meet my nephew...well our nephew Frodo Baggins,"

"Well met young Master Baggins," Thorin replied with a rare smile as the boys tackled their newly found cousin.

Gandalf laughed as the reunited family made their way inside with their packs and smiles upon their lips.

Turning at the door Bilbo thanked Aule, Yavanna, and Mahal for turning such a sad ending into a happy ending and closed the door turning to face a much brighter future.
