i. You take it as you see it,

Determination keeps you going, and it must because if it doesn't the you're going down to somewhere where you've never been before.

Finding Percy isn't only something you're doing for your own good, you health, your whole state of mind, but for the whole camp, because however much you need him, they probably need him just as much. Maybe more. Because when your leader is gone, who are you? A wise man once said, what is a peoples without their leader, and what is a leader without is people? He was right, too, because no one can become an organized band of people unless they have a leader. And a leader cannot be a leader unless he has people to lead.

So, you take your hints as you find them, using your clues as they're given, because unless you do, you're going to have trouble finding anyone of use, much less Percy himself.

ii. and you never, ever regret it,

It's done. You've sent them out without you. They're out looking for Percy, and fulfilling a prophecy, while you're sitting back and 'relaxing' by yourself.

But you really don't feel any regret for sending them off by themselves. Actually, it's more like you can't feel any regret, because if you do you know you will find yourself rushing out after them and telling them whatever they're doing is wrong, and start doing it your way. But you convince yourself that Jason can handle it. He has been training for years, wherever he's been, that much is apparent. You trust him to see the quest through and get the job done right.

No regrets.

iii. because if you do,

Pacing back and forth. Once, twice, thrice... Walking around the room, over and over again doesn't help anything, nothing in the big picture, but it makes you feel temporarily better.

Why, oh why did you send them out by themselves? They won't finish it right. They can't, they won't, nothing's going to work... But you must stop telling yourself that. They will pull through, they will find Percy, they will complete the quest. You must believe it yourself, or all hope is lost because if you -Annabeth Chase- don't believe it, no one will. None.

So you take a deep breath, stop your pacing, and begin planning.

iv. your regret will catch up with you someday.

"Seaweed Brain," You breath out, but that's all you get because you're enveloped in a hug that won't relent.

And standing there, in his arms, wrapped in warmth and loving, you allow every single regret you have to wash away. Well, all except for one. How did I let him scare me like that? You think, and then as he holds you more tightly, you realize it's because you love him so much that you're lost without him. You realize that regret is a part of love, because if you don't become attached to anything, you will never regret anything, because there is nothing to be regretful about. But if you love someone, and you hold on tightly, and they squeeze momentarily out of your grip, you are filled with regret. Someday, though, you will find them again, and like that your regrets are gone.

Regrets keep us together.
