Today was like every other day. Different shades of grey ate into every corner of my existence; black and white hues were included. Nothing was unique. Sure, we had all the different symbols, patterns and other lines that were shifted around and placed into all sorts of shapes of different sizes. But it still wasn't enough.

I walked down the sidewalk from my discolored house, the boring colors of the Earth dancing around in my vision. People around me were doing their own thing as usual, not a care in the world. I think I was the only one that really was aware of the dull sound that chimed out when our existences collided.

There were stories, whispered among the scholars, librarians, and other superstitious peoples. They spoke of a miracle that very rarely occurred. Ever.

It was said that when you met your soulmate, if you ever made physical contact with them, you'd see what colors the world truly glowed with. And it was supposed to be so beautiful, heaven supposedly, was supposed to be outmatched by unreal standards. But it only happens for those few seconds that the individual two people share contact. It sounded really stupid, I know. But it's never happened to anyone. No one was really that lucky. But there was a catch. And I didn't know what it was, but it was there.

I paced down the grey concrete road that glared at me as the subtle shadows jumped around, playing with my eyes. I did not notice an even darker shadow that was approaching me.

Right as I took another step, the owner of the shadow clashed into me as they took another step forward to. After being jolted forward but back into the ground, I immediately experienced a flash of a loud cry, a splash of yellows, greens, and blues as I made physical contact. When we fell apart, the world once turned back into the dense world of blank, boringness that I had succumbed to. The other stood unsteadily, straightening themselves up before offering me a hand.

Momentarily dizzy, I gazed up at them, trying to see if I could recognize their face. Oddly enough, they were a newcomer, supposedly as I have never seen them before. They smiled politely, tilting their head. I couldn't help but stare, as they were one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. No person that had crossed my vision before could compare. But despite the beauty, the dull colors of grey, black, and white shrouded any other potential that could have been seen.

As soon as I took their hand and stood, I was thrown into a rush of adrenaline, and was suddenly out of breath. Everything was lit up again in bright colors, and that person that stood in front of me was once again so beautiful, they were almost shrouded in light. They were almost godlike in appearance.

My cheeks lit up slightly, and I could feel my hand shaking slightly. I gazed at them out of astonishment, and they gave me a bewildered look. "Are you okay, miss?" I didn't give them the answer they wanted, though.

"D-Do you see it too?" I asked, swallowing as I was breathless. My heart seemed to thump even faster.

"What are you talking about?" They asked. My heart broke.
