A/N: This is a really short thing I just came up with. Lines in the first part are canon. The dialogue towards the end is mine.
Disclaimer: I do not own Gossip Girl or any of its characters.
Let's pretend that the kiss meant nothing.
"We both know the kiss meant nothing. Less than nothing."
"Yes. That's right."
While we're at it, let's pretend we're madly in love.
"We will stage an intimate moment for Lucien to stumble upon."
"No way."
Or let's pretend that we're just friends.
"Exactly. Friends."
"Yeah, I swear, just yeah… friends."
Maybe one of us can stop pretending.
"I never thought the person I want would be Blair Waldorf."
Maybe one of us can keep pretending.
"Nobody writes sonnets about being compatible or novels about shared life goals and stimulating conversations."
Until someone else sees through it all.
"There's a certain someone that might actually like the way she's been painted. And I'm not talking about Serena"
"It's not Charlie he's talking about."
But then we keep up the act.
"Listen, if the castle gets lonely, and you want to watch a movie with a friend…"
"I already copied your queue"
"I can't believe we're watching Tangled."
"We need something light… and you're a princess, it's just fitting"
And we accept that friendship is all there is.
"I'm happy for you."
"You'll be there, right?"
Maybe one will realize that it's not the case.
"Rapunzel didn't get a prince."
"There wasn't a prince… point?"
"You'll find princes in the most unlikely places."
"And Rapunzel's "prince" was a thief."
"And you stole my heart."
Maybe we can both stop pretending after all.
Review if you may :)
