Dare You To Move
By: Redemption
Summary: Salvation is here.
Chapter #1: Perfect
For as long as he could remember she had always been there for him. In times of trouble, in times of need. And he, he had always been there for her, right?
He always felt guilty over the pain he had caused her as teenagers. He would always feel guilty in a sense, like the old days. He gave a drained sigh. It always felt the same, thinking of her. Always. It wore him out, like an old tire. His guilt, his tacit emotions. It enraged him and saddened him at the same time, like watching his past as a dream, a never-ending castle in the sky.
Inuyasha raked his silver mane with his long claws. The lost possibility of her being his was all there was to anger him again. He had thrown it all away the day she left, the memories of her, the feel of her, his love for her…or so he wished. But in truth, she was in his blood. Her love, her feel, her memories could be traced down in his DNA. She was like a disease. One that would never go away. He could have stopped her, pleaded for her to stay. But he didn't, he couldn't, he wouldn't. She had her own life. Her own time.
The pure hatred in her eyes the day she slipped back into the well was all he needed to remind himself of his fatal mistake. His major faux pas. He had made plenty of mistakes in his life but which one, which lucky slip-up had made her leave him? If he hadn't done it, his gaffe, how would his life be like now? He sneered. Perfect.
She didn't budge. She just waited there, standing. It angered her that she had to wait in a line. Kagome didn't like marketplaces, never did, but she did like food, therefore having to wait in a God-forsaken line every week.
Kagome wasn't one to bitch and moan about stuff, but when it came to Ralph's, well that was another thing. She groaned, she moaned, and she bitched for a whole ten minutes before standing, still, in front of the snobby cashier who kept calling her 'sweetie'. God she hated it when people called her 'sweetie'. It sounded so syrupy. So like she wasn't.
Kagome wasn't sweet, what she was was 'grown up'. Oh sure, she was twenty, living a 'normal' adult life, finally considered by her peers as a responsible and civilized grown-up. But inside she still felt like her silly, carefree, fifteen-year-old self…sort of. Fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen… And then what? And then she had left, left her friends, left her life, left…him. Because of him Kagome was no longer herself. Because of him she had to rebuild her status in society, had to go through therapy in order to say, confidently, 'It was not a mistake to leave him'.
She hated him. Much, oh so much more than groceries or lines or snobbish cashiers who called you 'sweetie'. She hate him with a passion. What would her life be like now if she had never laid eyes on him, never met him? She smirked. Perfect.
