I had cried when I heard about Tristam, where my father worked.
I had cried when I heard about the corrupt rogues.
And I cried hardest when Deckard Cain, the only man who could tell me stories about when I was little and how my parents would laugh at me, and smile, was kidnapped.
And now I was here, sitting around a fire, putting my long black hair in a braid and putting on the armor of an assassin. I would not take mercy on those who killed all those innocent people. No, never would I take mercy on those black hearted monsters.
We started to chant around midnight, when it was totally dark. We were just outside the Rouge Encampment, where the rogues lived since Tristam was invaded and put under siege. Akara was the leader, though Kashya commanded the rouges. She would not speak to any of us when we went to town.
There were four of us, and we came to find an assassin trying to ward off demons just outside the Rogue Encampment. We had begged on our hands and knees for her to make us one of her, to take us in as her students. She had said, "An assassin takes no students, but only equals," and then we followed her here. She told us to wait until nightfall and that her name was Lali.
And then it all passed really fast, and now we are all serious. "And do you all vow to slay the three Prime Evils, even if we have to chase them into the depths of hell?" Lali shut her eyes and awaited our answers.
"On my word, I swear to destroy the three Prime Evils." I stated my left hand to my heart as I swore allegiance to killing, to murder. Even if it was for good, I would have to fight corrupt rogues and end them.
"Then let us rest and we shall begin our quest at dawn."
We all nodded and slept under the stars that night. The sun did a perfect job of arousing us, and we dressed silently, as assassins are supposed to. Lali wasn't much stronger than any of us, and we all had problems with the armor we wore. Actually, we were all identical at the time, wearing Isenheart's breast plate and light belts with leather gloves and light boots. We were going to raid the Blood Moor in search of the Den of Evil, which we must clear of evil.
"On your left!" Lali cried, thrusting her Katar into a carver and moving to the next one. I spun around, facing a carver raising his club above me. I thrust my Katar into it, just as Lali had. It did not scream, but just fell limply to the ground. I did not shed a tear and moved on next to my comrades.
It was a long time before we reached the den. We entered and were greeted by some undead 'zombies' as the townsfolk called them. There were only two and were killed in an instant.
Lali had used some sort of exploding device that I yearned for. It quickly exploded on anything it landed by. The rest of us were stuck using our bare hands as she exploded every living thing near her.
We did not talk much on that first day, and we ended up sleeping in the den. There was no blanket tonight, and we all shivered in our sleep. We traded off guarding each other, since the den was not clear.
There was no sun, but Lali woke us up early so we could clear the den. We were all groggy, so Lali gave us extra servings of bacon and eggs that she packed.
A few fallen demons ran at us, and we killed them with ease. But they did something amazing. When we killed them, they sprung back to life! I did not believe such a thing could happen. I turned the corner and saw a tall, red skinned fallen shaman. They weren't supposed to exist! They were rumors! I killed it and told the news to my friends.
I smiled when I killed the last demon and the sunlight shone in. My comrades and I were all injured, but not seriously. We made our way back to camp.
