Just putting this out there to see if anyone wants to see more of the story behind it. Yes, I am updating Pilot soon. I've just been so busy lately with marching band. Please tell me your input!

At the End

Ch.1 Can't Win For Losing

Hotch jogged around the last curve to his final lap. One more to go, just one more lap till' he reached the five mile marker.

Sweat poured down his back and ran down his face, the only thought in his mind was humorous to him as his calves and feet ached.

"No pain no gain." He thought laughing breathlessly to himself as he passed another racer.

It was coming into view now, and even though he might not have the strength to pass the last two competitors he still felt good knowing he was going to cross that line.

He looked to his left.

Even at this distance he could see Spencer holding Jack, Morgan and Garcia standing next to one another; Emily and J.J were waving a flag the sponsors of the race sold for a couple a dollars with the runners name on it. They were all there cheering for him and laughing happily.

Hotch sped up passing the second to last person.

Jack cupped his hands, turning his body in Spencer's arms so he could take a deep breath and yell, "Go Daddy!"

Joy burst in his heart at the sight of his family. Everything that had happened, the marital problems, awful cases, problems inside the job, it was all the gone at this moment. All that mattered was making his family proud.

Hotch forced the last amount of energy he thought he could and ran past the last person; coming out in first place.

The team; his family, burst out in a cheer.

Aaron threw his hand into the air, as he continued past the line.

For a moment, there was pure happiness; then it was gone.

A shot rang out, piercing Hotch and sending the crowd ducking down in horror.

Morgan was the first to react, racing out to Hotch's face down body.

Spencer held Jack his arms tighter, at the same time quickly understanding what needed to be done, "Run!" He yelled to his friends as he passed Jack off to J.J and Garcia who immediately knew their new role was to protect Jack.

Spencer ran towards Morgan, Emily dialing 9-1-1.

Morgan rolled Hotch on his side.

His hands were stiff by his sides and his breathing was rapid; whether it was from the run or the shock Morgan would never know, but what he did know was the blood beginning to pool around his body.

"Hotch stay with me man." Morgan shook his head as he put pressure against Hotch's chest.

Hotch's hand came up and grabbed Morgans wrist, his eyes wide.

"Here." Morgan heard Spencer say over his shoulder as he came around and pulled the left sleeve of his sweater off and handed it to him.

"I called the ambulance." Emily said kneeling down and briefly looked at Hotch before pulling out her gun.

She knew they were now completely in the open, most civilians long gone in the opposite direction.

"Where do you think it came from?" Emily asked still looking around at any vantage point she could think of yet still saw no one.

"I'm not sure." Spencer said trying to keep Hotch awake.

The ambulance wasn't far now thanks to J.J., who had lead it around in the right direction since most paths had been blocked off for safety reasons.

Despite knowing the ambulance was right there it still wasn't close enough to the people who cared for Hotch.

To them, the ambulance was moving in slow motion a million miles away….
