Fanfiction: Kiss
Katara loved playing tag with Aang. The young airbender's spirit and enthusiasm for the game liberated her heart from the shackles of being a teenager cursed with having to help save the world. And it was just fun, too. Katara and Aang had played tag many times together, with Aang usually being the winner; for obvious reasons. But this time, Katara had made Aang promise not to use his airbending powers. He had agreed to this term, and it was surprising to Katara that Aang was not that fast without his airbending. Probably because he had never had to do anything without his bending before. As Katara sprinted, she entered a lush green valley caressed by a rocky mountain range, thin streams snaking through the tangled rock formations. It was so beautiful, Katara almost wanted to stop and admire the view. But she couldn't let Aang win the game when she had a perfect chance, so she ignored the scenery and kept glancing back to make sure Aang wasn't close behind, her legs speeding along as if they had their own minds. Little did she notice the shadowy figure in the distance, slithering across the cliff tops...
Zuko had come to the Valley of Light, just like he did all the time, to think, to ponder about how the war could be won. Lately, he had been trying to find a solution to Aang's problem, who didn't want to kill Ozai. Being up in the Valley of Light helped to calm his thoughts, put him at peace. He needed a break from his friends, who, although he loved them deeply, frustrated him on many occasions. After all, it's not like they ever did anything. They were always relaxing or goofing around, never considering the fact that they were trying to win a war here! Zuko shooed the thought from his mind, accepting the fact that his systematic problem-solving clashed with their method of winging the situation. Fair enough. Zuko's eyes scanned the mountain range. He didn't even hear the sound of the footsteps sprinting towards him...
It all happened so fast. Zuko heard them at the last moment. Katara realized it too late.
Zuko's head swiveled around. Katara's face turned swiftly, her eyes shut. His eyes went wide, but it was too late to do anything now. As if planned perfectly by fate, their lips met. Actually, there lips smashed into each other. Both Katara and Zuko instantaneously pulled their faces back, rubbing their sore lips and chins. They looked at each other and blushed. Then, Zuko began to laugh. His laugh seemed suppressed. Soon enough, so did Katara. Hers was a little more free. Finally, at the same time, they erupted into tremendous howls, their bellies quaking. They laughed so much, it began to hurt them. After what seemed like hours of nonstop laughter, Aang caught up to them. He was puzzled by the incessant laughter Zuko and Katara were sharing. He was kind of jealous, too. "What's going on here?" He inquired, a pout imprinted deeply in his face. "Why are you guys here laughing so much?" Between gasps, Katara answered him.
"I-It'-It's kin-kind o-of..." She was unable to get the rest out, for she was laughing too hard. Aang was becoming impatient.
"Well? I want to know!" Zuko tried to stop, but his laughter just rolled out again. After about five minutes, Aang lost his temper. "WHAT HAPPENED? TELL ME NOW!" Well aware of Aang's temper tantrums, Katara just decided to reenact the event. She held Zuko's face in her hand, and smashed her lips into his, just as before. Aang's mouth dropped to the floor. In a jealous rage, he took off on his glider, back to the camp. Katara and Zuko's reenactment was almost the same as the first time, except now, they didn't pull back as quickly.
