He never knew why it frightened him so. Maybe something happened in his earlier years. Maybe not. But nevertheless, thunder scared the fuck out of Eren Yeager. Yeah, lightning, he was fine with, but thunder? Thunder was a completely different topic. Nervous spasms seized him, then he would double over, shivering and chanting utter nonsense until the thunder stopped. Thunder reminded him of blood for some odd reason, of death and destruction.

Raindrops decorated the windowpane, sliding down the glass as if racing one another. Eren glanced at the clouds that covered the sky, each a dark grey color, silently praying there wouldn't be a storm. Levi usually comforted him when thunderstorms rolled around, but it would be another hour before Levi returned home from work.

The pitter-patter of rain increased, became increasingly louder and louder. Eren sighed and continued about his work around the apartment. There was but a mere hour before Levi returned from work, and chores still needed to be done. "Do the laundry, make dinner, replace the bed sheets," The mental list in Eren's head grew longer as he busied abound the apartment. It wasn't until the rolling of thunder was to be heard, somewhere in the distance, that he froze and broke into a cold sweat. Gritting his teeth, he forced himself to finish the housework.

A loud clap of thunder caught him by surprise. A yelp escaped his lips, and the laundry from his hands. "Levi's going to be pissed." His corners of his mouth curled into a smile. The thought did not amuse him for long. One bolt of thunder and a bout of explosive curses later, the lights flickered and extinguished. Eren sank to the ground and curled into a fetal position, hands over ears to block out sound. Not that it worked.

The babbling came next. Streams of words flowed from his mouth in a nervous jargon, a jumble of sentences that came from a place in Eren's head not even he knew of. The names of foreign places, people, and objects even, escaped his lips with ease. At least it aided in blocking out sound.

Neither the rain nor thunder stopped, and so neither did Eren. His voice was hoarse and shirt damp from the cold sweat, and every so often he choked out a sob. "Stop it, stop it, stop it," he chanted, a nonstop mantra that did no help.

Strong hands grabbed at Eren's shoulders, fingers digging into them hard enough to draw blood, and shook harshly. "Get up," The words were harsh and impatient. Levi yanked the younger man from the ground without waiting for a response and dragged him off to the bedroom. He loosened his tie after dumping Eren on the bed.

Eren glowered at the other man, hands still (rather feebly) blocking out sound. "When'd you get home?" Gingerly, he removed his hands from his head.

"When you were too busy screaming your head off, you shitty brat." Without warning, Levi shoved Eren's head onto the bed. He ignored the other's growls and curses, flopping back onto the bed himself and roughly pulled Eren into his chest. "Shut the fuck up for a moment."

The sound of thunder boomed from somewhere outside, and Eren flinched in Levi's arms. He grasped onto Levi's shirt, muttering an incomprehensible string of words, something about dinner.

Levi pulled the younger man in tighter. "S'okay, shitty brat. Dinner can wait, so shut up for a li'l while. I'll be here until it ends." he murmured softly.

"Thanks," Eren whispered, his breathing easing as he slowly drifted off.
