Iris had been friends with Mrs Turner for a few years now. They weren't close friends by any stretch but friends indeed. The winter of 1960 changed all that forever. They'd bonded over preparations for the Carol Concert and became confidants in more than just costumes and songs. Iris had spoken about Lorna and Shelagh had confided in her struggles with infertility and becoming a step and adoptive mother.

She hadn't expected to be pregnant. Quite honestly she hadn't thought a thing of the pains until they got too severe to be down to kidney stones.

Shelagh had taken her to Doctor Turner and before anyone knew it there was another baby girl in her arms. Joy had been the perfect name and little discussion had been needed over the middle name once the great tale of the past hours had been told.

Joy Shelagh grew up healthy and loved by not only her parents but by her godparents too. Shelagh and Patrick doted on the girl and became the go to people for awkward conversations Joy wanted to avoid having with her parents. She tried to bond with her niece and nephew but it was Angela and Timothy she considered her family.
