Title: What's in a Flower?
Alternate Title: Class Dismissed
Summary: Ugh. Why can't my name be something more…un-flowerish?
A/N: Lily ranting…hating her name. AND it's Valentine's Day! But that doesn't really matter. Or DOES it?

Disclaimer: If I was JKR, I'd be spending my money, not writing.
I hate my name! Lily! How cliché can you get?
Come on, mothers! Let's all have a naming party and name ALL or our kids after bloody flowers! Wonderful idea, don't you think? I'll bring the chamomile tea!
Ugh. Why can't my name be something more…un-flowerish? Maybe…Chloe? Cindy? Tonia? Alyson? Kiera? Grace? ANYTHING!
Look at boys. They've got it easy. I bet they don't even care what their given names are! Why would they? They've all got nicknames! 'Johnathon' becomes John, 'Sanford' becomes Sandy…Even a gross name like 'Alanheines' could become 'Alan', or even 'Al'. Even names like 'James' (Hey! That rhymes!) can become ridiculous things like 'Prongs!' (Still working on the origin of that one.)
"Um…Lily?"
"What is it you want, James? Can't you see I'm in the middle of a lesson/rant?"
"I just think your name is beautiful. And I don't even understand why I need to listen to your lecture/rant when there's no reason for one anyways! Having a flower-name is great! It gives me—I mean boys—a perfect flower to give you on…say…a special occasion, like a wedding anniversary! I love your name!"
"…"
"So, what were the possible nicknames you said for Alanheines again?" someone probably named Alanheines asked. "I need a new name! Or a nickname! And FAST!"
"Are you kidding me? Try out YOUR name for a while! Right now, people call you 'that one kid', 'cause you don't tell anyone your name! Stop complaining!"
"But you yourself said that…and you hate your own name!"
"What are you talking about? I, for one, LOVE my name!"
Class dismissed. And now, since it's Valentine's Day, and because he helped me realize my name's true potential, I'm going to go give ickle Jamesiekins a kiss.
"Um…Lily? Miss Evans?"
"I SAID CLASS DISMISSED!"
