It was raining.

Hermione didn't care. She just stood there, tears streaming down her face, as the rain came down, as if it could wash away what had happened, and what she had done.

She heard the door open behind her, and she turned around, though she knew who it was.

Their eyes locked, and they stayed like this for what felt like years. But neither one of them spoke. The silence said more than words ever could.

His face was filled with anguish and grief. Hermione longed to run into his arms and forget everything, but she knew she couldn't.

His red hair was plastered to his face, and his eyes were red and puffy. He had been crying. He had a reason to. It was her fault George was dead.

There were screams everywhere. People lay dead all around her. Many a killing curse flew next to her head. She shot out stunning curse after stunning curse, without any real aim. She hadn't meant to hit George, but the Death Eater saw his chance. George was dead before she could do anything to stop it. She started to run, but not before she saw Fred's cold gaze resting on her.

"I'm sorry," she whispered, choking on her words.

He didn't say anything. He just stared.

"Fred, I-" she started, longing for the words that could justify everything that had just happened, but there was nothing she could say that would ever make this all right.

He slowly started towards her. She didn't dare move. She deserved anything that was coming.

But when he reached her, he did something unexpected. He pulled her into a tight embrace, loudly sobbing into her shoulder. He stayed there for about five minutes before lifting his head.

His eyes were so full of pain that Hermione didn't know if she could stay strong any longer. But she didn't have to. The next thing she knew, he had kissed her. The kiss held so many emotions that were overpowering Hermione. The sounds of rain and thunder were drowned out by the sound of her heart beating. She didn't ever want this moment to end, for when it did, she would have to face what she had done, and she didn't know if she could bear it.

But this kiss, this love, this passion, this was eternal.

It was raining.
