The New Beginning
- P.O.V of Katniss Everdeen
I watched in disgust as the capital explained that there would be something called the hunger games. Where 1 girl and 1 boy between the ages or 12 to18
from each district would go to the capital and fight to the death. I ran out side i needed to clear my head leaving my little sister prim and my mom crying in each others arms. I tears started to run down my red puffy face as I went under the fence. It was supposed to be electric but was never on. I got my bow and arrows and laid in the meadow. "Crunch crunch crunch" I froze and loaded an arrow and pulled game "psst katniss psst catnip" whispered my best friend gale "GALE!" I said while running towards him and burying my face in his chest. "you heard? About the games?" I was silent I was hoping this was just a terrible dream. I thought about how many kid where going to die and me and gale and even prim could be one of those. I shook my head at that taught. Gale laid me down and laid down next to me, we watched the sky for hours and hours. "we should get home are family is probably scared to death" gale whispered rubbing my back to sooth me. I nodded as we got up we heard yelling from inside the barrier. We dashed I put my bow in the tree as usual. We slipped under the fence to see men in white suits armed. "peace keepers" I chocked out as if it hurt to say. Some one on a microphone said "salutation district 12 today will be the first reaping, a reaping is when we pick a boy and girl for the first ever hunger games!" a women in about her 30's in the weird capital style her skin was a pale pink her hair was a hot pink with purple and blue high lights wearing a short maroon dress with zebra pattern. I spotted prim and my mom if one of us got called it would kill my mom after the lose of my dad she berries herself in her work which there for leaves me getting food; by hunting, money; selling animals I have killed and watching prim. Gale and I ran in to the massive crowd joining are family's in hug. The odd lady showed us a film it was just dreadful it was about the upspring in all the districts and killing off 13. Tears rolling down people's cheeks thinking they may never see there children again. The lady said "my name is Annora district 12's represented! Ladys first!" she said snatching a name out of a big clear bowl. She read it then said a little to preppy "Katniss Everdeen" of course I thought. "NO NO KATNISS don't go" prim said with tears flowing down her cheeks. I went to give her a hug but before I could peace keepers took her in to the crowd. I walked up on stage wearing my gray hunting jacket, dark jeans, a white v neck shirt, and my hunting boots my long dark brown hair laying on my back. "oh what a pretty young lady you are" Annora smiled from ear to ear. "now for the boy who should be honored to go with katniss" she said snatching a paper. Witch read…
