Many years ago, humanity met an alien structure who identified itself as "The Traveller". It gave humanity many gifts, from terraforming all the planets in the solar system to nearly tripling human lifespan. Technology flourished, life prospered, it was a glorious golden age. But everything changed when the darkness arrived. Suddenly, civilization collapsed, bringing humanity to nearly exctintion. Just before, the Traveller suddenly went dark, and dormant. With it's last breath it created ghosts, beings of light and machine to seek out guardians, those who have past on and are forged anew to defend the last of mankind.

A few days ago, the last city was attacked. We were all driven out by the ruthless Red Legion, who wants to take the Traveller for themselves. My ghost and I have been wandering aimlessly for almost a week now, looking for some sign of life, but the best we've found is a ghost town, not a trace of life in a few centuries. We were about to head towards what we thought was a rendezvous point, when we heard a distant booming of a storm.

"Was that thunder?" I hear my ghost chirp. I stop and listen for a moment. Sure enough, the distant rumbling of a thunderstorm can be heard.

"Yeah, let's find some shelter before the storm catches up to us."

"Good idea. Scanning the area... alright. I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that I've found a place. The bad news is that it has a fallen den inside."

At this point I'm so tired I don't really care, so we make our way towards the den.

I finish up clearing out the den, the last captain's cold ether hissing out his chest as he slump to the ground. Looking around, I realize that the place looks rather familiar...

"Ghost, what is this place?"

"My archive tells me it's something called an "ice skating rink." Humans of all ages would gather to slide and dance across a sheet of ice with boots that have tiny swords on the bottom side. Oh you humans are so odd, with your entertainment."

"An ice rink? I think I remember this place, y'know, from my past life."

"According to the data in the stereos, the last song played was a love song meant for a "couples skate".

Suddenly, I have a vision appear before me. People all over skating and having loads of fun. And...is that me?

"Ghost, are you seeing this?" "Seeing what?" "...Nothing, nevermind."

I see myself sitting across the way, looking at some girl. Who is that? And why do I feel like I should know her? Just then I stand up in my vision and approach the girl, asking her something I can't hear and presenting a flower. A flower? That can't be right. The girl seems rather elated by this, and we begin to skate together. Was she my girlfriend?

"Hey Ghost?"

"Yes, guardian?"

"...I think I'm in love again."
