Disclaimer: I don't own Star Wars.

It was a beautiful day. The sun shown across the sky, and the clouds seemed to dance against its kiss. IT was a beautiful day. As it should have been. For her. The most beautiful day for the most important day of her life. The sun was twinkling down on the palace as preparations were being finalized.

Amidala looked over her palace grounds from a balcony outside her room. Yes everything was perfect. It was going to be a wonderful day.

So why did her heart ache so much?

"My queen are you alright?" a soft accented voice asked gruffly from behind her.

"It's a beautiful day Obi Wan." The queen said turning around.

"Yes, it is my queen." He said bowing his head.

Tears sprung to her eyes.

"You cannot even look at me right now can you?" she sobbed quietly. "What will happen after today Obi Wan? Will you never speak to me again?" she asked.

"Of course my queen."

"Stop it!" she exclaimed quietly. " Look at me Obi Wan." She said.

The Jedi lifted his head and looked at her face. Tears were also brimming his eyes.

"You will never look at me the same way after today." She continued. " And you will never hold me again." She whispered.

The Jedi sighed. He stepped forward and took her into his arms. Her body racked against his as she let her tears escape.

"Padmé. I will always hold you. I will hold you in my heart until I die. Nothing will change that. I will look at you with the same love in my eyes. You are my heart Padmé, that can never change." He said against her hair. He pulled away from her.

"But starting today, Padmé. You are queen Amidala. I cannot betray him. And I know that neither can you." He said.

Amidala licked the tears of her lips. She gazed his face, but was overcome with too much pain.

"And you Obi Wan. You are Jedi master Kenobi." She said, she tried to keep the tears from falling once more, but did not succeed. "You are quite correct. Neither of us can betray him. Him or the senate and council." She said wiping tears away and turning once more towards the palace grounds. "Isn't it funny Master Kenobi, that the one I love, will stand next to the man I must marry?"

Obi Wan sighed and wiped some lingering tears from his eyes. He turned to leave.

"Know this Jedi master. Everytime I look at you, I think of our love." She whispered closing her eyes.

Obi Wan turned swiftly and took her in his arms. She sobbed as his lips touched hers.

They both knew it would be their last taste of heaven.

"I wish you bluebirds in the spring." Obi Wan whispered as he walked away leaving Amidala sobbing.

Goodbye,

No use leading with our chins,

This is where the story ends,

Never lovers, ever friends,

Goodbye,

Let our hearts call it a day,

But before you walk away,

I sincerely want to say,

I wish you bluebirds in the spring,

To give your heart a song to sing,

And then a kiss,

But more than this,

I wish you love.

And in July a lemonade,

To cool you in some leafy glade,

I wish you health,

But more than wealth,

I wish you love,

My broken heart and I agree,

That you and I could never be,

So with my best,

My very best,

I set you free,

I wish you shelter from the storm,

A cozy fire to keep you warm,

But most of all,

When snowflakes fall,

I wish you love.

THE END
