~Chapter 1: 15 for a Moment~

It was the first day of high school. Matthew was nervous as hell. His older brother had been putting scary notions in the blond's head about being a freshman in high school. Matthew didn't tell his parents about this, hoping his brother would dispel the images but he ran off to college with his boyfriend before he could talk with his younger brother.

With his backpack square on his shoulders, hands holding onto the straps, Matthew got off the school bus. This was now or never.

He wondered around the full campus. Older kids stood in the way as they talked with friends they didn't get to see over the summer break, paying no mind to the quiet Canadian. Matthew was also looking for his friends, wondering where they would be.

After searching around inside of the school, the blond went outside and quickly spotted his Japanese friend, Kiku. Sighing in relief, Matthew hurried over to his fellow gamer/artist. Standing next to Kiku was a kid Matthew never saw before. Kiku noticed Matthew, smiling a little.

"Hello, Matthew." The raven haired boy saw he was confused about the sleepy teen with them. "This is Heracles. He came from a different school."

"Oh, hello. It is nice to meet you. I'm Matthew." He smiled, loving when he got to make new friends. The brunette returned the smile.

"Do you like…cats?" Heracles asked slowly as was his nature, like Matthew was soft spoken.

This launched the three of them into conversations which lasted until it was time for them to see their homeroom teacher for their schedules.

The day passed, Matthew getting to see friends in his classes. High school was not as terrifying as Alfred made it sound. Lunch rolled around, Matthew was thrilled to see that he had lunch with Kiku and Heracles. There were also a few people that Matthew was introduced to, like this very hyper Italian named Feliciano, a stoic German named Ludwig. They sat outside, it was a nice day, and everything was going alright until a very loud kid made his way outside.

He was laughing quite obnoxiously. Ludwig rolled his eyes, though he seemed to want to crawl in a hole and die. The loud mouth came right over to their table and plopped himself next to Matthew.

"Ludwig! You didn't tell me where you were eating! The awesome me had to search the lunch room for you! But you were not in there!" The very pale kid yelled, looking a little miffed by it.

Matthew saw the embarrassment on the blond's face. "What right do you have to talk that way to him? Who are you?"

The pale boy turned his red eyes to the soft voice next to him, red meeting violet. "I am his awesome brother!"

Matthew's eye brow rose slightly. "You two are in the same grade? How can-" He was cut off.

"I was adopted. Name's Gilbert!" He wasn't fazed at all by just saying that to the whole table. Gilbert thought it was cool, another feature that made him stand out in the crowd. The Canadian sat still for a second before introducing himself.

First impressions are always wrong, because as the school year went by the two discovered that they had a lot alike. Matthew was also a very good influence on the rowdy albino. He was able to keep him calm, most of the time. Their friendship grew stronger as high school flew by.

There was never a Gilbert without a Matthew. The two were inseparable. They spent time together, looking for a college that the both of them could attend.
