Maura pushed herself off her front door, sliding out of her heels in the process she made her way to the kitchen. A weak smile passed over her face as Bass made her way into the kitchen.

"Do you want me to get that Maur?"

Jane walked around from the corner, speaking to the Doctor. Maura smiled again, a bright shine in her eyes. "No Jane, you just relax. I'll get you a beer; you can go sit on the couch. The game is already on for you."

Jane passed by Maura, and kissed her cheek. Goosebumps made their appearance on Maura's arms. She smiled again and opened the fridge. Pulling out a head of lettuce and putting it out for Bass she then pulled out a beer. Popping the cap and setting it aside she made herself a tall glass of her strongest wine. Dragging her glass, the wine, and the beer she went to find the Detective.

"Hey Maur? I just want you to know I love you."

The Doctor smiled and put her drink on her end table, and then placed Jane's on the other end table. Curling up on the couch her feet tucked up to herself, she covered her body with the fleece blanket, ignoring the cold. Downing her first two glasses quickly she watched the game and smiled when Jane jumped up and cheered.

Maura finished the bottle of wine. Tears streaming from her eyes, her heart hurt. No, it ached in pain. She choked on her sobs. Jane looked over and leaned closer to the doctor making her shiver.

"Maura? What's wrong?"

Maura choked out on her voice, loosing herself again. Curling up in the couch, Jane ran her hands up the goose bumped and blanket covered thigh, eyes full of worry.

"Maura?"

"Jane! Don't you see?! Everything is wrong."

Jane frowned, bit her lip and leaned over and kissed Maura on her cheek. Maura sucked in her breath quickly another rush of cold hit her. Curling into her blanket again she looked over at her best friend.

"Nothing can be right again,."

Jane bit her lip. Hugging the freezing woman. "Why can't anything be right again?"

"Because you're not here anymore."

Jane frowned again, "But I'm right here!"

Maura sobbed again, eyes full of her tears, "No Jane. You're dead. You died when you shot yourself to kill Bobby."

Jane's eye brows curved downwards, "I don't understand."

Maura looked over at her friend, then to the untouched beer. "You died over a year ago Jane."

Jane turned and stared at the carpet.

"I don't understand."

Maura shifted from her seat and went to her bedroom, Jane followed. The two footsteps echoed through the halls. Maura turned into her bedroom and watched when Jane changed and tucked herself into the shared bed.

Maura lay down in her nightgown, her outfit for tomorrow set up. Her phone on its charger and missed phone call hung over the phone in silence. She looked over at Jane, tears in her eyes.

"I miss you so much Jane."

"I love you Maura."

Maura choked on her tears again as she pulled out the Detective's pistol. From under the pillow it came, Jane watched with terror in her eyes.

"Maura?"

The Doctor shifted the gun in her hands, feeling the weight.

"Maura? What are you doing?"

Maura looked over at her friend again, eyes drying. "I miss you Jane."

"Maura… No. You can't. Boston needs you. My family needs you."

Maura broke into a strangled sob again, she pressed the weapon again her temple.

"Maura! Don't you do it!"

"I need to be with you."

"You can't!"

A gunshot rang into the nighttime air.
