"It wasn't meant to happen like this!" Screamed Sora, "I never wanted it to end like this!" The rain fell down hard as she ran to her house. Inside were her parent's friends and family. "You were supposed to come home and be surprised!" She screamed into the night. "The road wasn't supposed to be slick, and you weren't meant to die!" She ran inside the house and up their grand staircase. "Sora!" Yelled her brother, "Come join the party!" She ignored him and ran, weeping to her room.
Sora slammed the door and flung herself onto her bed. She stood, still sniffling, and walked towards the window. She saw her family's large estate and a full moon over the lake. She looked farther and saw the road winding away from the house. "Mother," she whispered. "Father, I'm sorry." She broke off as her brother walked into the room.
"Sora are you…" She threw a pillow at him. "Get OUT!" She screamed, "Mom and Dad are dead and it's all my fault!" Her brother gasped, "Mom and Dad are..." "That's right!" Yelled Sora. "It's my fault! If I hadn't thought of this to get Dad promoted, they never would have driven to get champagne. And they would still be alive!" She grabbed a piece of chalk and drew a transmutation circle on the floor. "GET OUT!" She yelled, "OUT!" Little bits of crystal flew at her brother.
The door was flung open, and a man entered followed by a blonde woman with a gun. "Roy Mustang." Said the man. "Flame Alchemist." "I don't care who you are!" Yelled Sora. "Get out!" She shot more crystals at the man, but he snapped his fingers. The crystals exploded in a burst of flame. "Nice work," he said, "You used the alchemy array to compress the moisture in the air to create crystals." "Ya," said Sora, "So?" "I work for the military." We're always looking for new blood, so if you're ever interested in putting your alchemy to good use," he held out his card.
Sora took it, still looking sullen. "You can contact the number there. Ask for first Lieutenant Riza Hawkey. She will tell you everything you need to know about setting up you're National Alchemist certification test. So if you ever want to help..." He tipped his hat. "We'll be waiting." He shut the door with a snap.
"You're not really thinking of joining? Are you?" Asked her brother. "Yes, as a matter of fact I am," Maybe now I can do something with my life." She said, "I don't want to stay in a huge house in Central. You stay here with Mari and get married. Just let me go." "Whatever." Said her brother. "But you know that once you join you become a dog of the military. You have to come upon command, bound to the state. Don't forget that."
He shut the door with a snap. Sora threw open the closet doors. She grabbed her suitcase and flung it on her bed. She grabbed her brush and mirror and flung them in her case. Last but not least she grabbed a picture of her Mom and Dad, arm in arm. She placed it carefully on top of her clothes. So she wouldn't forget.
