Wally nodded at the Boy Wonder and then they both stepped out from behind the pillar that was providing them safety. They ran toward the machines. Wally watched as an objected blurred by him—a bat-a-rang—and hit one of the machines right in it's center.

"Hey KF," He heard Dick shout out to him over the noises surrounding them. He narrowly dodged a laser beam fired in his direction. Some where behind him he could hear another bat-a-rang hit the metal of a machine.
"Kinda busy, Rob."

Dick cackled, enlightening a bittersweet feeling in the red head. It didn't hold the same eerie, confident aura that it always did. Wally knew he would never get to hear it again. Not after tonight.

Wally skidded underneath a machine and turned to see his best friend unaware of an enemy sneaking up behind him, laser fired up and aimed right for the boy wonder. Wally stood and ran as fast as he could, tackling Dick out of the way and onto the ground. His face slammed into Dick's chest, his nose started throbbing.

They parted instantly, narrowly dodging another laser. A bead of sweat dripped down the nape of Dick's neck. Wally could feel blood begin to trickle from his nose, he could taste metal in his mouth. He grit his teeth and took off towards the machine that had took aim at Dick.

"Wally!"

"What?"

"I'm in love with yo—"

Emptiness.
Wally followed Dick to his room after everything has been explained. After they had been told it wasn't real, just a mission gone wrong. None of it actually happened. They didn't die. Dick didn't die.
The speedster grabbed Dick's arm once they reached the Boy Wonder's room. He turned his best friend around and hastily grabbed his glasses, chucking them across the room onto the bed.
"Did you mean it?" He didn't have to elaborate. Dick knew what he was talking about, what he meant. He wasn't clueless. Dick stared up at Wally with those bright blue eyes and in that moment they looked so broken, like when Dick talks about his parents and what happened to them.
Dick's face changed and Wally didn't need him to say anything. He already knew. He could tell from the way Dick was looking at him.
Wally's lips were harshly pressed against Dick's before the boy wonder's back even hit the wall. His lips moved quickly, fueled by a hunger that had been burning inside him ever since he met the boy wonder. The failed practice mission only made the flame burn brighter, bigger, hotter.
The speedster cupped Dick's face in his freckled hands. He'd been so convinced they were both going to die; that he wouldn't be able to be with Dick again, or hear him laugh, or watch him out on the battlefield, or look at those big blue eyes. He thought he was going to lose his best friend. It didn't even matter that he was going to die, but it mattered if Dick did.
And maybe it was selfish of him to only want to die by Dick's side, like they did. Or supposedly did. But maybe it was more selfish to wish Dick could have lived and went on without him, completely ignoring the fact that the boy wonder would be just as miserable without him.
Wally's lungs screamed for air but he did not want to stop kissing Dick. He never wanted their lips to part. But Dick let out a whine that closely resembled his name and Wally pulled back to look at his best friend. The red head's expression was pained, the back of his eyes prickling with the threat of tears.
"Me too," He whispered, voice hoarse.
He didn't have to elaborate for Dick to understand what he meant. He knew that Wally was responding to a different time, a different place. A place where they died with each other. A time when they thought they lost each other.
"Me too."
