I own nothing, except for my OC.

Talking to Roy tonight did not help in the slightest, but honestly Jim wasn't surprised. It hadn't worked in the past it most definitely would not work now. Truthfully even though he felt a bit disappointed he wasn't surprised; everything Jim had ever told Roy went in one ear and out the other. And as result of blind determination Roy's life had begun to unravel at the seams. All the while as he unzipped his jacket and changed into sleepwear Jim was wondering. What was it that aided him to move on so easily when he discovered that he was a clone? What had stopped him from becoming obsessed like Roy?

Sitting down on the side of his bed the sound of stirring and a humming gave Jim his answer.

"So, how'd it go?" The young woman beside him sighed.

"No change, he still doesn't listen." As soon as he tucked himself in the woman curled into him. The answer lay right beside him. It was her, his Southern Belle, his Marie.

"Be patient, he's just lost is all." Marie mumbled tiredly.

"I was too at first."

"He didn't have anyone by him." Jim didn't blame Jade for leaving and he wouldn't have blamed Marie either but he was thankful she decided to stay. She was his rock in those troubling, life whirling days. He could never thank her enough or repay her. Even now he held onto his needle as he walked through the haystack of life for fear of losing the very thing that sewed up all his loose ends when the tapestry woven for him came undone. Jim opened his mouth to speak but then paused for a moment before opening it again.

"Why did you stay?" Jim saw Marie smirk in her half sleeping state and practically purr her answer; the seriousness behind his words was lost on her.

"Well, I wasn't about to let some science take you from me, now was I?" Jim smiled, feeling silly all of sudden for not knowing better. This was Marie he was questioning here. As if she was going to let a crackpot villain organization and a false birth certificate create a rift between her and her Yankee!

"Thanks for that." He kissed her temple.

"Hmm… anytime sugah." She crooned in her natural Louisiana drawl.

Yes sir, Marie was his little slice of southern comfort, one Jim worshiped to the crumbs. A treasure truly heaven sent. If it weren't for her hand holding onto his he would have been just like Roy. Jim would never let go now of the hand that gripped his and guided him onward. Looking onto Marie's sleeping face he couldn't help but feel sorry for his brother. Roy had missed out on a lot the last five years.
