It'd been three years, three long, and wonderful years of their lives together. Of almost every moment spent together, day through night, week by week—Hell, in the past year they'd finally made it official and moved in together.
And then tonight—Tonight was the night when the deal was going to be sealed.
Fidgeting his fingers in his pockets his mind was going wild, stomach churning out of nervousness and body practically shaking. Honestly, Soul never really was the one for romance—Hell, Kid had been the one who asked him, the one who asked him to move in, the one who just, was always on the mark.
Though, he had to do this—He felt like he needed to step up and be the one to seal this deal. Kid had done so much already, he had to repay him somehow.
Running a hand through his thick, snowy white mane of hair he took in a few, deep long breaths at an attempt to calm his nerves, foot tapping onto the ground as he waited for the Reaper to show up.
He'd only left a note—One on the counter top telling Kid to meet him around six outside of the bakery.
Sure, it wasn't the most romantic spot—Though, he knew the young Reaper loved the place and always went on about how neat and perfect their breads and pastries were whenever they'd stop by the place, so, he found it fitting—Do what he needed to, then pick up some of the other's favorite breads and well…Go out and do whatever they wanted to for the night.
"Soul?"
Almost jumping from his spot crimson hues shifted over to the Meister, eyes softening almost automatically—He hadn't let the other know what this was about, though, as usually Kid still dressed his best…
And damn, did he look handsome tonight.
Hair combed back perfectly as normal, his signature black slacks covering his legs—Though, he wore a simple red, collared neck shirt instead of white with a plain, black vest over. Golden hues shown bright even in the darkening surroundings, a light, genuine smile set to his features.
How perfect…
"You…You look great."
Soul managed to comment after a moment or two as he stepped up to the boy, leaning forward to leave a small, 'hello' kiss to his lips.
"Oh—Well, you do to…"
Shifting his gaze down nervously a sheepish smile tugged at the Meister's lips, eyes taking a quick scan of the scythe before him—He was dressed…Nicely, in his pinstriped suit, though—Why? He would have suspected a date, though, normally he was the one who had to set those up…
"Why did you want to meet here?"
"Well—I…Actually have something to ask you."
Clearing his throat the weapon took in one, large breath before stuffing a hand back down to his pocket, fingers fidgeting with the small, purple velvet box set within. Doing what he could now to keep himself from shaking the boy went down onto one knee, head down as he removed the box from his pocket, hands shaking just slightly as he opened up the top.
"Death The Kid, would you—Uhm…Would you marry?"
Lifting his head back up he held out the box, a small, perfectly crafted silver ring sitting in place.
Everything went quiet for a moment—Soul was scanning Kid's features, trying to pin point how he was going to react…
He honestly looked like he was going to cry.
Shit…
"…Soul Eater Evans, I could never say no to you."
Crimson orbs widened at the other's answer, a large, toothy grin tugging up at his features as he slowly went to stand—Though, was almost knocked over as the Reaper's arms were thrown around him into a tight, warm, and comforting embrace.
"I—I love you so much…"
Murmuring against the weapon's shoulder tears welled up within his eyes—Out of happiness, of course.
He hadn't expected this, at all.
But damn, what a wonderful surprise.
