The Forgotten
Chapter 1: One Short Night
Seventeen year old Amelia Price sat fidgeting in her bedroom at her home in Hertfordshire. Her long dark brown hair was pulled in a curly ponytail with a purple ribbon tied and her fringed bangs hanging near her eyes. She pulled the hem of her lilac colored floral dress down to her knees and shuffled her matching maryjane flats. She was waiting for a visit from a strange man named Albus Dumbledore. She had no idea who this man was or what he wanted, but she had received several letters in the mail about him coming over and so she waiting patiently for the doorbell to ring.
It was almost 5pm and the letter said he would be there at five sharp. Amelia glanced at the clock and shuddered. The clock struck five and suddenly the doorbell rang.
Surely that can't be him. He can't be perfectly on time can he? She thought to herself. She waited to see if her parents would answer the door and sure enough her mother Alice had reached the door first. She could hear a little bit of talking and than a short pause.
"Amelia darling! Come here please, your visitor has arrived." She said sweetly. Amelia's mother was always so calm and gentle. She hardly ever raised her voice. Amelia was raised pretty much by her mother alone. Her father had died when Amelia was just five years old and so she hardly remembered him at all.
"Coming mother!" she called back. Amelia got up anxiously and made her way to the door. She took her time down the stairs. Albus seemed like a cute name. Maybe he was a young gentleman and wanted to ask her on a date, or maybe he wanted to hire her as a fashion model and quickly wisp her away to the states to start right away. She laughed to herself. No one would ever think she was pretty enough to be a model. Sure she was cute, but she was rather average. She reached the bottom of the stairs and gasped.
Albus Dumbledore stood at the bottom of the stairs with her mother who had a rather strange and confused look on her face. She was being polite and talking small talk with him while, but she knew that her mother was thinking the same thing. What was wrong with this man? Albus Dumbledore had a long pale blue robe on with half moon glasses and an incredibly long white beard. He looked like he was about a hundred years old, but that was impossible because he was perked up like he was twenty years younger. The sound of Amelia's shoes hitting the floor made him look up and smile at her.
"Ahh and you must be Amelia Price. My name is Albus Dumbledore." He said as he reached out his hand to shake hers. She was hesitant but took his in return.
"I don't wish to be rude, but may I ask why you're here?" she said as politely as she could. Albus just smiled.
"Of course my dear. Well let me get straight to the point then. You Amelia Anabel Price, are a wizard." He said calmly. Amelia couldn't help but laugh out loud. She stared at him as if he were crazy.
"I'm sorry, I'm a what?" she asked again. She looked at her mother expecting to see the same look on her face, but instead her mother looked like she understood completely.
"A wizard. Actually a witch if you would like to be particular." He repeated with a smile.
"You can't be serious! Witches aren't real. They are only make believe. Right mum?" she asked.
"Amelia, we need to talk." Alice said.
I hope you all like this. I know it is short, but I just wanted an introduction before I really get started. Please review and let me know what you think!
