CHAPTER 2
UNHAPPY CELEBRATION
"It's your 18th birthday tomorrow!" shouted my best friend, Claire.
"Shut up! I don't want my birthdays to be in public!" I, Fallon Sonney replied. "I don't want Frank to know all about it."
"Ohhh, you don't want him to know but you expect something from him, right?" she said teasingly.
I smiled "obviously…"
"Well your 'love story' will be continued tomorrow!" she said as she ran home. I rode on my car and drove home with a wide smile.
"I'm home!" I greeted. But no one answered. I repeated "I'm home, guys!". But still no reply. So I started upstairs and opened the glass door of our family room. And there I saw them—my whole family having some sort of like a meeting.
"How's school?" asked mom, Jessica Sonney.
"What a weird question." I replied as I raised my eyebrow.
"What do you mean?" asked my sister Karylle. Then my brother, Ryan quickly bridged "You were from school. What do you expect?"
I felt slightly bad. Did they forget about my birthday? "well, will you not ask me about my birthday plans?"
My father stared at me as if I did something wrong. "You would not be happy about your birthday."
Don't they love me anymore? Tears came running down my cheeks. Mom felt hurt too so she cut the conversation "Go to bed, guys. Fallon, if you are hungry, there is food in the fridge."
Before she closed the glass door, she said "Wake us up - that's the very first thing you should do tomorrow." And I was all alone.
I decided not to eat anymore so I headed to my bedroom. Before I sleep, I thought "What's with everyone?" I just closed my eyes and told myself that my questions will be answered the next day.
To be continued….
