[Damon´s Point of View]
It was a beautiful cloudy night; the big clouds were hiding an almost full moon. I was standing on a building roof. From there the view of Mystic Falls could take anyone´s breath away but not mine. I had seen it many times it was hard to find a thing that could surprise me. The wind brushed through my hair as I looked down on the people who where walking down the street. They looked so small and fragile. My mind went through all the current events that happned these last days. Tyler had scratched me causing me to feel the same effects Rose had gone through. The despair of not knowing when you are going to die drives a vampire crazy that´s for sure. My brother and the girl I loved are going to grow old and live a happy life together. My soul, or what was left of it, was damaged and empty knowing I would have to miss them. I didn´t care about anything anymore, just hurting and inflicting pain to others, maybe that was my way to free myself from my own suffering. ´´Damon?´´ Elena´s voice carefully called out. ´´How did you know I was here?´´ I asked harshly not wanting to show my emotions to her. ´´Stefan told me this was your favorite spot to come after a hunt.´´ I rolled my eyes at at the mention of Saint Stefan´s name. Ofcourse he would tell her that. ´´But that doesn´t matter Damon.´´ Elena continued. ´´Come home with me.´´ she begged as she took my hands in hers. For a few good minutes I kept quite and tood there in silence and then softly spoke : ´´ I´ve made some bad decisions..´´ Elena tilted her head hearing my words as I turned around to face her. ´´But everything I did, I did to protect you Elena. And I want to protect you because I love you.´´
Elena´s face looked up at me in schock. The expression on her face told me everything I needed to know. I sighed and started to instinctively pull away from her but Elena wrapped her arms around me in a tight embrace. My shirt was being stained by her tears as I heard her sobbing. I didn´t know what to do except pulling myself away once again and look into her brown eyes.
´´Promise me one thing Elena.´´ I said whiping away her tears with my thumbs. ´´Be happy with Stefan and forget about me.´´´´ I never wanted you to leave me Damon. I can´t hate you. I can´t loose you.´´ she said, her tears making my thumbs wet. I took a deep breath and kept looking at her. ´´Promise me Elena.´´ I emphasized on the word promise.
She nodded and that was my sign to leave. Elena looked around realizing I had vamp speed away from the roof. ´´ I love you too Damon.´´
A tear rolled down my face as I heard those words knowing I can´t be with her and I left the oak branch I was standing on to never return to Mystic Falls.
