Howl Far I'll Go
"Hey, Mac? Have you ever heard Jack howl?"
It was a quiet day at the Phoenix Foundation (a fact that was both welcomed and bizarre all at the same time.) Seeing as there was nothing else to do, Mac had sat down at the table and made paper clip sculptures. Bozer and Riley had sat down at the front of the room. Jack, who decided to wolf out for whatever the reason, dozed lazily on the sofa, but perked up at Riley's inquiry. The huge wolf turning his attention to the techie.
Mac frowned. I guess boredom brings about weird topics. "I. . . don't know. Jack's. . . not really the howling type, I guess." He shrugged and went back to his sculpting.
"Have you ever tried to make him howl?" Bozer now asked, curious as well. Mac sighed and set aside his work. His teammates obviously weren't going to drop this any time soon. Jack swung his bored gaze to Mac, clearly thinking the same thing.
"No. Why would I?"
The other two shrugged and looked at one another. "Just curious. I mean, you are Werewolves. Isn't that kind of what you do? Howl?" Riley asked.
Mac rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair. "Yeah, but. I mean we've never really been crazy about that. We just do our thing and keep attention away from ourselves." Mac glanced at Jack. The wolf nodded his consent and rested his head on his paws, his gaze sliding from his partner to rest of the team.
"I still think it'd be cool to hear him howl." Bozer commented. "I bet it sounds like the kind of sound effects they use in those creepy horror films. Or like the Twilight movies."
"No way." Riley piped in. "I think it would sound majestic."
Mac and Jack shared a look as the other two argued. Mac arched a brow at the wolf, a pointed look in his eyes. The blue roan wolf rolled his eyes and took a deep breath, titling his nose to the sky as he howled.
The arguing immediately ceased as all the attention turned to Jack in awe. It definitely sounded better than any kind of movie sound effect. It was so emotional and brought goosebumps to your skin, yet incredibly wild all the same. Riley and Bozer both cheered when Jack's howl eventually died down. Jack allowed a smug grin to come over his features. He always gets'em everytime.
