"Percy, this is the fifth time this semester you've had to come to my office! I know that your stressed from family issues, but you can't take it out on your peers, or teachers!" Mr Blag, the school's principal, said.
Percy knew that he shouldn't of done it, but it had seemed too hilarious to resist doing it. He had flung a frog they were dissecting into the wall in science class. The teacher lost her shit and had sent him here in her rage of the splattered innards on the white plaster.
Before Mr Blag could rant on about some shit Percy wouldn't care about, a knock sounded on the door. The principal sighed and looked up. "Come in." The door opened and a girl walked in. She had short messy raven black hair, like him. She was slightly shorter than Percy, with long legs and mildly pale skin.
Then he saw her face. She had a hardly noticeable splash of freckles across her nose and cheeks. But her eyes were just, wow. A deep electric blue pair that looked like they could send sparks through you just by staring into them. They were lined with black mascara that made them shine even more.
Mr Blag stood up. "Ah, you must be the new student! Was it Thalia?" The girl that was supposedly Thalia looked at Mr Blag with hidden amusement. And Percy didn't blame her. Mr Blag amused him, too.
"Yeah. Thalia Grace," she replied, shaking his offered hand. Mr Blag smiled. "Oh, I have your schedule right here." He handed her a small sheet of paper. "Thanks," Thalia muttered loudly. Blag, oblivious to her vibes of boredom, smiled again. "I would give you a tour, but I'm busy at the moment. Oh, Percy, could you give Thalia a tour and help her get settled in?"
Despite the fact that he would have to give her the tour anyway, he shrugged. "I guess," he replied. He got up and and offered her a hand to shake. "Percy Jackson, at your service," he greeted with a sly grin. Thalia smirked and shook it with a strong grip. "Let's get this show on the road, shall we?"
When they were about to leave, Mr Blag spoke up. "Percy, please don't try get into trouble again. And Thalia, I give you a warm welcome to Goode High." "Yep, okay." Percy simply said, but he didn't notice the sarcasm. "Thanks," Thalia said, so satisfied with her 'warm welcome'.
After the door closed behind them, Thalia turned to Percy. "So you were there because you were in trouble?" Percy grinned widely. "Yep," he said, rather proud of himself. "What did you do?" Percy smirked at the ground. "I threw a dead frog in science and it exploded on the wall." Thalia raised an eyebrow. "Good, but not as good as me," she stated. "Huh?"
Thalia grinned at him. "When I was in fourth grade I sewed a pillow for a teacher I hated. I hid needles in the fabric and she eventually left the school because she thought the 'stress was affecting her mind', as I recall."
Percy threw back his head and loudly laughed. When he calmed down he shared a high-five with Thalia. "That's priceless!" "I know, Jackson. Now can I get that tour?" He smiled kindly at her. "Sure thing."
Percy was getting a good feeling about Thalia Grace.
Thalia's schedule was almost identical to Percy's, only having a few different classes. Percy glanced down at it and groaned. "Ugh, we have English." "English isn't that bad." Thalia mused. "I hate English." Percy said.
His dyslexia and ADHD were partly to blame for that, considering he struggled in reading and he couldn't keep his attention on anything boring for more than a couple minutes. A reason as to why he flung that frog at the wall. But the humor of that event made up for it.
They entered the classroom and Percy and Thalia took a seat near the back. They chatted about their interests for a couple minutes, and it turned out that they were so similar, yet different.
Then 'Rick the Dick', as Percy called him, strolled over with his gaze fixed on Thalia like the pervet he was. "Hey hot stuff, I'm Rick, but you can call me Ricky. What's your name?" Thalia looked at him with disgust clear on her face.
"Definitely not 'hot stuff'," she said, and turned back to Percy. "Well what would you like me to call you?" Rick asked. Thalia gritted her teeth and tilted her head back to him. "Hmmm, how about... Oh, I know! 'Go fuck yourself!'" Rick blinked in surprise.
Percy laughed. He knew that Thalia shouldn't of been insulting people on her first day, especially if they were considered popular, but it was too funny, watching her telling Rick to go fuck himself.
"What are you laughing at, Jackson?" He snapped. Percy looked at him with an amused expression. "You can't touch me, buddy. Don't even try to insult people. You suck."
Rick sneered at him and stalked off. "He was friendly," Thalia commented. "Yep," Percy agreed. "Not as friendly as you were though. You'll make heaps of friends like that." Thalia slapped his arm lightly. "I didn't want to be friends with that creep."
"I guess I can't really blame you on that subject."
They both chuckled to themselves, and when the teacher came after what seemed like eternity, explaining why she was late, Percy smiled.
Because the bud of him and Thalia's new friendship was slowly blooming. And he was going to make sure the flower was beautiful.
