"You alright Amethyst?" Pearl asked when she walked into the purple gem's room. It was right after a battle and, for some reason, Amethyst seemed pretty upset while Steven was recapping everything that happened during it, as it was one of the times that he was actually allowed to go.

"I'm fine," Amethyst grumbled out, but her voice sounded like she has been crying. Pearl decided to tread farther, brandishing the one weapon she knew was effective against an upset, and stubborn, Amethyst, a blue and pink hairbrush.

"You sure? If you want to talk," Pearl reasoned as she sat down behind her target.

"I'm FINE alright? Just leave me alone," Amethyst yelled, turning to address Pearl with tear streaked eyes before facing her wall again, leaving Pearl with the optimum position to start extracting information.

"Ok," Pearl sighed as she started to run the brush through the tangled jungle of purplish white locks of hair, at first making Amethyst tense but gradually relax. They stayed like that for five more minutes before Amethyst decided to speak.

"It...he...that thing, almost hit Steven today. He wasn't paying attention and even if you two saw, you would be to far away. I was frozen, I mean, what if it did hit him? What if Steven did get hurt? I convinced you two to let him come and he almost got hurt," Amethyst started to worry and cry again as Pearl stopped brushing to give her a hug.

"But he did not get hurt, even if he did, it wouldn't be your fault. Everything turned out fine, I did not even know there was a chance that he could have and one eye was almost always on him," Pearl tried, but she could sense that her words did not do much.

"He COULD have, if that tentacle thing moved three inches closer to Steven, we wouldn't have a Steven, and it would be MY fault that he got hurt. Maybe you are right, maybe Steven is too young to join us," Amethyst waved her arms, as if that helped her point.

"When did it get that close to him?" Pearl asked, racking her brain to figure out when he could have been that close to getting hurt.

"You were trying to stab that thing in the head and Garnet was avoiding getting eaten," Amethyst replied as she hugged her knees.

"No matter, Garnet and I should have also kept a closer eye on Steven, if he did get hurt it would be all of our faults, not just yours. Now why don't you wash up and hang out with a perfectly fine, and not squashed, Steven," Pearl offered as she started to get off the bed to be stopped by Amethyst giving her a hug.

"Thanks Pearl, you know, we haven't hung out like this in a while," Amethyst mentioned.

"You're right, Steven can wait. Why don't we have some girl time?" Pearl asked as she picked up the brush once again and the two started joking around with elated spirits.
