In the dark streets of Rapture, there lurked two figures.

A splicer and a mortal man.

The man, with what rationality he was left with, took to hiding in the shadows. His lithe, yet muscular frame pressed against the cool concrete of a maimed building. His chest heaved with the gentle ministrations of a sigh. His heart beat at an illogical pace. Adrenaline was a savage river that coursed through his veins.

The splicer, devoid of humanity, paced through the underwater city's decrypted streets. Rubber boots pushed through concrete, dirt, and Rapture's innards. The splicer hummed a tune, barely recognizable to the other male. It was an old song, tinged by a foreign accent.

"Jesus loves me this I know…"

An involuntary shudder ran down the man, Jack's, spine. It felt like his nerves were tickled in an unsavory manner.

With a flick of his wrist, Jack produced the latest plasmid, Incinerate! His pale flesh crackled and snapped, imitating a campfire. The embers on his hand gave a hearty glow. Bits and pieces of skin were peeled back, revealing a molten red that lingered underneath. The flames were mesmerizing, but not nearly enough for him to lose his life over the matter.

"…For the Bible tells me so-" The splicer nearly wailed. The voice was tinged with unmistakable grief.

It was laughable.

A sneer, in the guise of second nature, marred Jack's features. He thrust his hand towards the splicer, flicking his fingers together with an audible snap. The flames crackled, roaring to life as they consumed the pitiful being.

The smell of burning flesh was indescribable. He wheezed as the putrid odor hit his nostrils.

"Ayudame!" The splicer cried to a God that wouldn't listen.

Funny. Somehow, Jack knew what that phrase meant. 'Help me', was it not? Help from a God when the splicer clearly committed sinful deeds. Murder was at the top of Jack's presumptions. He shook it off, letting his thoughts meander elsewhere.

What mattered most was helping Atlas, his personal savior.
