Chapter 1: The Rhode Island
Harry Kim paced the floor of the shuttle. Why was this taking so long? Lieutenant Commander Kim had assumed command of the newest, most advanced starship in Starfleet. The U.S.S Rhode Island NCC-72701 was a Nova-class vessel launched in 2400. The ship had not only advanced science and exploration capabilities, but also had the strongest offensive and defensive capabilities around. Kim couldn't wait to get there. Finally, the shuttle pulled into the Rhode Island's shuttle bay. "Welcome aboard Commander," a young ensign said. "Thank you, ensign.?" "Wildman, sir," she said, smiling at him. "Niaomi? Wow I haven't seen you in years! How are you?" "Glad to be serving under you, sir." Kim smiled then continued toward the doors of the shuttle bay. Kim walked down the corridor to the nearest turbolift. "Bridge," he said to the computer. The lift whisked him up to the bridge. When Kim stepped out of the lift his breath was taken away. The bridge was a mix between those of the Voyager, Prometheus, and Excelsior. "Captain on the bridge," said a yeoman. He then turned towards Kim. "Sir, there is someone in your ready room to see you." "Thank you, yeoman," Kim replied, all the while wondering who it was who wanted to see him already.
