after a traumatic childhood he turned to the black market selling illegal weapons and acting as a sword for hire. The work he did earned him the scars that cover his body but after a while that work got him captured and imprisoned by a group of Al Bhed. He was broken out by a stranger named Farrina. They took advantage of the attack on "Home", the Al Bhed stronghold, to get away. In the year after the escape he finished building an airship that he started before he was caught. He disappeared for 3 months with his newly completed airship and when he returned he had a large bandage across his face. Farrina helped him with the wound but never saw how bad it was. He met Serene, Farrina's sister, while he was healing. She was the one that convinced him to let Farrina remove the bandages. When she started to remove them Serene walked into the room and screamed when she saw the cut it had started to heal but it went from above his nose to the top of his skull. Soon he was too restless to stay in one spot so he gave Farrina a choice either come with or stay here. She wouldn't go without Serene and after arguing about it for day's and he finally let her come with.
