"What book would you recommend I read next?" Castiel asked one evening when he, Kevin, Sam, and Dean were eating diner. Nobody had said anything for a while and Cas had been looking for a book to read.
Sam finished chewing his food before replying. "How about Frankenstien by Mary Shelley?" Cas had already read that, in fact it had been one of the first books he had read since being human.
Cas shook his head. "I've read it."
"Harry Potter,"Kevin suggested.
Cas smiled fondly. He had liked those books very much, J. K. Rowling was a talented writer."Twice,"he admitted.
Dean, who had said nothing so far, continued to eat. "What do you think Dean?" Castiel asked him
Dean shrugged. "Have you read 'The Shining' ?"
"I don't think so."
Dean only nodded in response. Sam nodded too. "I have a copy of it if you want it,"Dean said.
"Sure,"Cas agreed.
Three days later, when he had finished 'The Shining', Cas knocked on Dean's door. Dean opened the door quickly. "Yeah?" Cas held the book out to him. Dean just looked at it. "You can keep it for now,"he said looking back up at the angel.
"Oh,"Cas frowned. "I had thought I was just borrowing it." Dean shrugged.
"Did you like it?"he asked taking the book from his still outstretched hands and flipping through the pages. He stopped somewhere in the middle, his eyes scanning the pages before flipping another twenty or so.
"Yes. I especially liked the boy, Dany. I didn't like Jack though."
Dean nodded, "I didn't like Jack either." He paused. "Do you want to read some more Stephen King books?"
"Huh?"
"Stephen King, "Dean tapped the cover of the book. "Do you want to read more of his books? I have a few more of his."
"Oh, umm, yes."
Castiel followed Dean back into his room and over to his small bookshelf. There were maybe thirty books there, organized by author. Of those thirty books, four were Stephen King books. There was Pet Semetary, Under the Dome, It, and Carrie. Dean handed them all to Cas.
"Uh, will you be wanting these back?" Cas felt the need to ask.
Dean rubbed the back of his neck, "no, if I want to read them I'll just get them from you."
Cas nodded. "Thank you,"he said, feeling awkward.
"No problem, just take care of them. "Dean half smiled. Cas nodded and was about to leave when Dean said, "when your done with those you should read 'The Hobbit'. You'll have to get that onefrom Sam though."
"Okay, I will." Cas mouth twitched upwards. "Thank you again Dean." He nodded toward the books in his hands. Dean just shook his head.
"Like I said Cas, no big deal."
