This Wasn't Supposed To Happen

James Olsen was a bit confused to say the least. This couldn't be happening to him. He wasn't supposed to find her attractive, although that was probably beyond his control because she was a very attractive woman. What wasn't supposed to happen was him being attracted to her, finding her funny and more than smart but most of all he wasn't supposed to even think of kissing her.
Yet here he was laughing with her at the Christmas party and catching himself stealing glances at her from across the room. This wasn't supposed to happen at all. She was a Luthor and if he had learnt anything in his life it was that Luthors couldn't be trusted at all.

Lena Luthor knew it was childish but she blamed all these new 'things' she was feeling on Sam and Kara. They were the ones who had made her start thinking of James Olsen in this new light. He worked for her and wasn't interested in her but more importantly she definitely wasn't interested in him.
Sure, he was attractive, tall and honestly a good guy, which should have scared her off already, instead here she was thinking about what would have happened if she had followed Sam's advice and kissed him under the mistletoe at Kara's apartment.
What was wrong with her? She hadn't left Metropolis and come all the way to National City to start thinking of the likes of James Olsen. The man clearly didn't trust her. The fact that he had taken a bullet for her and spent a lot of time talking to her these days meant nothing, they just had a lot more in common than either of them had known.

It was now or never Lena said to herself. She was going to kiss James and get it over with then she could go back being herself. It was probably because he had saved her life again, nothing more. What she was feeling was just gratitude and she would get over it by kissing him. He was probably wasn't even interested so it would put an end to that immediately.
James took a sip from the glass and smiled at Lena. She was looking at him strangely, he hoped that she couldn't read from his face how much he wanted to put the glass away and take her into his arms.
Lena looked at James, she couldn't believe he was just calmly taking a drink yet her heart was racing wildly. She took ahold of his tie and pulled him down for a kiss and pulled back almost immediately. She had been right all along, James Olsen wasn't interested in her like that.
James looked at Lena in shock. He couldn't believe she had kissed him. Without thinking about what 'this' was he put down his glass and took her into his arms.
