Prologue

"Ow…That hurts…What's going on?," asked Artemis Night when she woke up. She looked around the room and realized she was in the hospital. "How did I get here?," She asked, "What happen? THAT'S RIGHT! THAT CAR HIT ME! Where's Joshua?" She looked around and saw a male figure with brown hair, pale skin, and red eyes. It was her husband, Joshua Night, Prince of Ireland. "Joshua!," She said as she approached him, but when she got to him, her whole world shook. On a hospital bed, she saw a woman with raven-black hair in a ponytail covered in blood, scratches, and bandages. 'W-what? WHO IS THAT?,' she wondered, but as she studied the girl before her, a man and woman entered the room. The man was in his 20s with short red hair pulled into a ponytail with bright green eyes wearing jeans and a sweatshirt with a smiley face logo printed on it. The woman in her 20s, long snow-white hair with big crystal-blue eyes wearing dark-blue jeans and a green long-sleeve shirt. Artemis recognized them as Alice Butler and her fiancé, Jack Short. "ALICE! JACK! WHO IS THIS WOMAN?," she said angrily, but they just went to Joshua's side. "We're sorry about what happen to Artemis…," Alice said. At that moment, Artemis Night realized who she was. 'THAT'S ME! I'm-I'm dead?,' she thought at long last. She looked at her husband with tear-filled eyes. She had to find someone to replace her, but who? But until then, Josh is on his own raising the triplets. Arty, Alice, and Holly have to look after each other. Who with take her place? Who?
Saint Bartleby's School for Young Gentlemen, County Wick low, Ireland; 2 months later
Artemis Fowl was walking through the library when he spotted something shining. It was a golden mirror with a ruby rose on its handle. He took the mirror back to his dorm to examine it. He saw a little poem, which he read aloud, said:
Spirit of old,
Spirit of new.
Shine a light upon the host.
For they will heal a broken heart of the prince,
Vampires and fairies alike.
For he grieves
Heal

After he read that poem the mirror began glowing green, sparks of light swirled around him. Before he fell unconscious, a woman that looked exactly like him appeared before him saying one thing before vanishing: "Heal Joshua. Take my place. Become the new Queen of Ireland and raise my children." Then everything went black. When he woke up in the nurse's office, he realized this was only the beginning.
