Observe

She looks so sad. I never see her smile except…
"Hey Tenten?"
…when she talks.
She turns her head to me, and there's the smile.
"What is it Neji?"
And now it's gone.
"I've noticed that you never smile, except when you are talking to someone. You look unhappy."
Her lips curve up into a smile as she answers me.
"That's because I am unhappy, but smiling gives the person I am talking to assurance, which makes me feel a little better. I try to stay optimistic, because no one is allowed to worry about me."
The corners of her lips fall back into that solemn expression again.
"At least you try."
She gives me a look telling me that she is confused.
I just chuckle a bit and break our eye connection.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see the edges of her lips raise up slightly.
I turn my eyes back to her, waiting for her to say what it is she wants to say.
But she doesn't say anything as she keeps that slight smile, that only a person with my eyes would notice, and turns her head away from me and stares into space, still smiling.
A/N: Someone whom I just met told me this randomly one day and I barely know them, but I think it's amazing for them to notice something as little as that.
