Don't own Monk just the idea and that was inspired by a friend
Adrian paced the floor frustrated. He had been going through a difficult time for the past 9 days. At first it wasn't so bad but today he was particularly restless. The only good thing was that it was happening to HIM and NOT to Trudy. The time she was going through the same situation he was ready to climb the walls by the beginning of day one.
Trudy could tell right away that he was beginning to get a little bit stressed out. As she put her hands on his shoulders he was instantly calmed.
"Come on," she said, "I think you could use a little fresh air"
"But I-"
"Adrian," she said, "Remember what YOU said when we had that conversation a couple of years ago?"
Did he remember? He remembered his own birth. Of course he remembered something he said a couple of years ago.
"Yes," he said, "I said its fine as long as we're together"
"And hm," she said, "It looks like we're together now so I am right in saying its fine."
Adrian looked at his wife with a huge smile. She had a point there. He couldn't argue with her when she had a point.
"She's got a point," Leland, who happened to have come in to check on how Monk was doing said to Monk.
"Hey Leland," Monk said with a smile.
"Keep an eye on him," Leland said to Trudy.
"I always do," she said.
She led him to the boardwalk.
"Sweetheart," she said after he was feeling better, "Technically yes this is going on with you BUT we are in this together. We are going to get through this together."
He knew she was right.
"I know," he said, "and that makes it a million times easier. I don't know how people go through this without the support of their loved ones"
"I don't either," she admitted, "What I do know is that YOU will never be alone.
"Honey," she added, "Do you remember my cousin's graduation?"
He laughed. Follow his comment, "It's fine as long as we're together," she said, "So we should go to my cousin's graduation together". He didn't even hesitate and it meant getting on an airplane. It had been quite an experience though and he wouldn't have missed it for the world.
"Sometimes," she said, "Things really seem to be difficult and that's yucky but you have to remember it's only a temporary situation. It will get better. There's just a little more to go before things improve."
"I can go through anything," he said, "as long as you're by my side"
