(Edit: 4/28/15) This was written over a year ago, and since then my writing has improved a lot. Now this just seems incredibly awful. I contemplated taking it down, but I think I'll leave it up.

Suddenly, I found myself falling, falling fast, onto brick pavement. I landed with a thud on my hands and knees.

Then I saw a dark portal open, and a girl stepped out, falling to a sitting position. She had short black hair, and deep blue eyes.

I struggled to get up, one hand holding my throbbing head. "Who are you…Again? It's weird. I feel like I'm forgetting something really important." I said. I remembered fighting…But nothing else, all blurred by the shock of pain that hit the back of my mind right before I fell.

"You'll be…Better off now…Roxas." The girl said, and I caught her as she fell on her back, staring up at the sky, the same color as her eyes.

"Am I…The one who did this to you?" I asked. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't remember. But I knew she was important, and I wondered if we were friends… I knew her name somehow…

"No…" She told me. "It was…My choice…To go away now…Better that…Than to do nothing…And let Xemnas have his way."

She was dying, and I felt something strange inside. Something I'd never felt before.

"I belong with Sora." She said slowly. "And now…I am going back…To be with him…Roxas, I need you…To do me a favor. All those hearts that I've captured…Kingdom Hearts…Set them free."

"Kingdom Hearts," I said, confused. "Free them?" How?

Then she started to fade. Ice appeared at her feet, slowly incasing her.

"It's too late…For me to undo my mistakes." She whispered.

"But you can't let Xemnas…Have Kingdom Hearts…You can't."

I looked at the ice that was up to her thighs now. That strange feeling inside was becoming stronger, more unpleasant.

"Goodbye…Roxas. See you again…I'm glad…I got to meet you…Oh, and of course, Axel too. You're both my best friends." She reached her hand up to my cheek.

"Never forget…" She said her words barely audible. "That's…The truth…" She smiled at me, and the ice crept up faster and faster.

"No!" I cried, clutching her limp hand. "Xion! Who else will I have Ice-cream with?"

The ice reached her chest, and she shone brightly for a moment, but then faded into the Light. A seashell was all that was left of her; I picked it up.

I had had Ice-cream with her and Axel. I remembered that. Even though we had no emotions, it was the closest thing we had to friends. It was the only think I knew, and I didn't want to give it up. I wanted it to be that way again. I didn't want to change…

The feeling inside became so intense that something wet flowed from my eye and rolled down my face.

I finally remembered her name.

"Xion…"
