It was a beautiful day--or night if you prefer to think. The stars were shining brighter then… then his eyes. Those perfectly green eyes that I managed to get myself lost in whenever I had the good fortune to make eye contact. The moon was so close, I felt as though I could touch it. Damn it Rose, your losing it. I was the very image of a love struck teenager, one who managed to relate everything she saw to the love of her life. God only knows how much those stories piss me off.

I was walking to the gym, for practice. Another hour of acting as though the very sight of Dimitri doesn't make my heart beat faster than a horny thirteen-year-old boy. Trust me, I would know.

I was always the … well; truthfully, you could say that I was the slut of St. Vlads. Not that people actually referred to me as that in public. I would hand them their ass if they did. I kind of had a rep here, one that I tried very hard to keep. I was the sexy, athletic, stunning dhampir with curves in all the right places, I was the absolute most flirtatious female at the school and I was totally badass. Not the usual badass like she gets detention a lot badass, but more of the "she set the school on fire to get what she wants" badass.

I didn't set the school on fire to get what I wanted, per say, but I did it to save my best friend in the entire world. Vasilisa Dragomir. She prefers the name Lissa but when you're the last Dragomir left, you're pretty important. That's why all the guardians call her Princess Vasilisa, despite my many attempts to change their minds. Stupid guardians, they all have a giant stick up their ass.

Of course, I am going to be one of those guardians, once I manage to graduate. This brings us back to the beginning of the tale. Dimitri, my mentor as he so often reminds me, has been assigned to make sure that I graduate. That means two extra practices a day on top of my already busy school work. Yup, my life is basically hell. I can deal with it, mainly because it means I get two more hours of Dimitri.

Anyways, me…walking to my practice with Dimitri.

I ran through the doors, prepared for a huge Zen lecture concerning the fact that I was late yet again. I threw my bag down on the floor and warily looked around the gym, half expecting Dimitri to jump out and attack me. Okay, so I was more wishing it then actually expecting it.

Dimitri wasn't there. This surprised me. He was always there, no matter how freaking early in the morning it was. I started to get a little worried. That's when I knew I had a problem. Dimitri doesn't show up on time and I'm practically having a hissy fit. Deep breaths Rose, he'll be here.

All of the sudden, a hand clamped over my mouth and with a series of moves that I had never e en scene, let alone practiced, I was rendered helpless. Whoever the hell this guy was, he knew what he was doing.
