The forest seems to be every child's worst nightmare, so vast and dense, as though you may never leave once you enter. A forest is easy to get lost in. All the trees look the same and tracks can be washed away by the tiniest amount of rain. But here I am, wandering through the forest. Alone. Unarmed. Like a little child.
The 'wilding's' as we are so generously called by the southerners, have all been travelling for the past few months. We climb the wall, venture into strange and unknown lands and discard our old ways of life for the safe life of the southern peoples. The camp I was travelling with was a small camp, eight or nine people, ranging in different ages all, taking their time to scout out the best paths to take and report back to Mance Raider, back across the wall.
I was asleep when the youngest of our group, Helicent, came down with a fever. Most people rushed to help the girl of only five and ten, but by the time she had passed more people were infected. So I left to get help, not finding any I returned back to camp to see every member of my group dead.
So, here I am. Walking in these woods, scared for my life, no food, water or shelter. The soft sound of hooves hitting the rough, dirt ground of the forest floor wakes me from my thoughts. Ducking behind a tree I see three men, dressed in fur wolf pelts emerge out of the trees on horses.
"You scared the deer away, Snow." A lanky blonde boy said.
"Or maybe it was your talking, Greyjoy." Snapped a tall, muscular boy with curling dark hair.
"Quit your whining, both of you. If we don't bring back something we'll look incompetent." Said the last boy, with curly auburn hair.
"Where did it go?" The curly dark haired boy said.
"How the hell is we suppose to know?" The lanky boy responded back snarkily.
"Enough." The red haired man spoke, effectively cutting off the other two from talking. This boy had a regal attitude, when he talked the other two boys stopped what they were doing and listened. "Let's get the deer and go home. You both need to stop fighting with each other. It's getting on every ones last nerves. Alright?" Not waiting for an answer he kicked his horse into a canter and the three men road deeper into the woods.
I sat behind the tree for a few moments until I knew they well away from me. Southerners didn't take to kindly to the Free Folk. They saw us as wild and barbaric. Getting up from the dirt I walked farther on, deciding to follow the path the three strange men had left. They had to have come from somewhere and if I followed their path well enough it would lead me there.
So basically this is the new story I am starting. Im still writing the other one but this story was blocking the other's creative flow and I couldn't not write it! So tell me what you think and the next chapter should be up tonight or tomorrow afternoon ish. ! Thanks! ( I OWN NOTHING)
