Chapter 1: The Call

It was a gloomy afternoon as you lay lounging on the sofa with your favorite book of all time, "Norse Mythology: Tales of Asgard". You had the book propped up on your chest, holding the corner with one hand while the other was wrapped around a very well loved pillow. As you flipped through the pages, you came across a particular tale that had you instantly smiling from ear to ear.

The title read Loki in bold text. You loved all the tales of Asgard and of the various gods that resided within the wondrous place but the one so called "god" that you loved the most was Loki. You loved his trickery and the many pictures of him grinning with lust and malice when he would be depicted playing a trick on Thor or misleading a mid-guardian to their fate.

Your eyes traced the four letters over and over; etching their every curve in your mind. You, being the kind of girl that loved to read out loud, weren't able to utter a single syllable since your cell phone began buzzing violently atop the oak coffee table.

You quickly shot up from your comfy spot to answer the device after placing the aged book on the coffee table. You checked the caller-ID but found only the words "restricted" flashing instead of a recognizable number. You hesitantly paused before answering (since you had a thing about not answering unknown calls).

You shrugged off the thought, thinking it may just be a bill collector. You pressed the "send" key and held the device up to your ear.

"Hello?" You spoke into the machine.

"Is this Nora Green speaking?" A masculine voice emanated from the tiny speaker.

"Yes, this is she." You said hesitantly.

"This is Agent Coulson of S.H.E.I.L.D. Our chief has requested your presence at S.H.E.I.L.D air base." He said before giving a slight cough.

"May I ask why your chief has summoned me?" You asked rather nervously.

"To discuss your research." Agent Coulson's voice said again, rather mono-tone like.

"A fellow agent has been notified to pick you up at your home in two hours or less." He said again before the phone line went dead.
