The story takes place right after The Snowmen.
The Doctor heard a phone ringing in the TARDIS. How odd. He didn't remember giving his phone number away to anyone. It was a number from Earth.
"Hello?" he asked cautiously.
"Doctor! It's Wilf! Wilfred Mott! Donna remembers.. but her brain isn't burning up." Wilf yelled happily into the telly.
The Doctor smiled. Donna was really back. She was fighting to remember everything.
"I'm on my way."
The Doctor steered the TARDIS and arrived in Chiswick where the family lived. The Doctor smiled as he saw the Noble's house. Nothing had changed.
Wilf was happily jumping up and down when he saw the TARDIS come into view. He cried tears of joy.
"HE'S HERE! IT'S REALLY HIM!"
The Doctor slowly got out of the TARDIS. His face was different, but he was still the Doctor. He fixed his bowtie before he arrived at the door.
"Doctor? Is that really you?" Wilf asked.
"Yep! I changed into a new face, that's all."
Donna came bursting out the house. She beamed at her Gramps but frowned upon the Doctor. Her face showed shock, fear, and angriness.
"Who the hell are you? Where's the Doctor?"
"Donna, it is the Doctor!"
Donna surveyed him up and down. He wasn't her spaceman. She started laughing and hugged him.
"God, you're still so skinny." She smirked.
"Come into the house, Doctor!" Sylvia yelled.
He smiled because he remembered every detail of their small house. His best friend was back. He couldn't believe it. Sylvia seemed so happy and Donna was glowing.
The Doctor and Donna were chatting for a bit when the Doctor looked at the time. It was starting to get dark outside.
"Doctor? Who are you traveling with now?"
"Er-no one. I'm trying to find someone. ….I've lost her."
"Is it a girl?" Donna asked gently.
He nodded quickly. He couldn't stop thinking about the girl every single moment of the day.
" Donna, I promise you…. Someday, we can travel like best mates again."
"I dunno, Doctor. It's really not the same. You aren't my annoying spaceman. I think that part of my life is over now."
"Donna! I thought you wanted to travel with him!" Wilf exclaimed, horrified by her decision.
"Gramps, he's looking for a girl that he lost. And I can't anyways, my job and Shaun!"
"Well, alright." The Doctor swallowed.
"What's her name, Doctor?"
"Her name's Clara Oswin Oswald." He smiled in spite of himself.
"She must be something."
"Well, I best get going. It was nice to see all of you again."
The Doctor got up and walked out the door. He examined the house again because it would be surely the last time he ever saw the place.
"Doctor? Will I see you again?" Donna asked.
"Maybe."
Donna smiled and waved. She felt a twinge of sadness but immense happiness. The Doctor heaved a big sigh and set the coordinates for London. It was time to find the Impossible Girl.
