Family Reunion

"Thank you, Iroh," former Avatar Roku murmured as the former mentor of Lord Zuko poured tea for the two.

"Thank you, for joining me," Iroh smiled. "It is nice to have family join me for tea."

"Indeed, although, I often wonder how it is that you are Sozin's grandson and not mine," Roku replied with a smile.

Iroh shrugged. "Perhaps it was Agni's desire that a grandson of Sozin guide the great-grandson of Roku," Iroh suggested.

"Perhaps…" Roku trailed off.

"Uncle Iroh? Uncle, are you here? I smell tea, I'm assuming you're nearby!" Zuko's voice echoed around them.

"Over here, nephew," Iroh called.

Zuko jogged over. "Uncle Iroh," Zuko eagerly hugged his mentor, uncle, and, in everything but blood, father.

Roku coughed. Zuko bowed. "Sure, you hug your uncle but you won't hug your great-grandfather?" Roku muttered.

Zuko grinned and then hugged Roku. "So, uh, Roku, I see you've met Uncle Iroh," Zuko said awkwardly. "And may I, uh, join you?"

"Yes," Roku spoke immediately. "We were having a family get-together—we should probably include you."

Zuko grinned. "Great-grandpa Roku, what do you propose we do about Kuvira? Just I can help Korra make the best decision for herself, for Kuvira, and for the world," Zuko murmured.

"Kuvira's a troubled woman," Roku murmured. "Korra doesn't know half of it."

"How bad?" Zuko asked worriedly.

Iroh gripped his teacup angrily. "Zuko, do you remember your Agni Kai against your father when you were thirteen?" Iroh asked icily.

Zuko nodded. "That is what Kuvira put up with for eight years," Iroh growled.

Zuko slammed his hand on the table. "We've got to help her," he murmured.

"We're spirits," Iroh replied. "We cannot interfere in the physical realm."

"And I lost my connection to Korra," Roku murmured. "Look, Aang chose Iroh as a tie point if what happened at Harmonic Convergence ever did happen. We're powerless to help."

"But I'm not," Zuko murmured. "I promise I will do everything I can to help Kuvira."

Zuko finished his tea and then bowed. "Uncle Iroh. Great-grandpa Roku, I hope to see the two of you again soon," Zuko stated. "But in the meantime, there's a battle I must fight for those weaker."

Roku and Iroh watched proudly as the blood son of Ozai but the true son of Iroh walked into the distance and through the Spirit Portal back to Republic City. Zuko would change Kuvira's fate and would save her.
