Coming to a Close by kano-shibahime
Gaara stood at the center of a platform that seemed more elevated than the rest of the room. The lights hanging from the ceiling shone brightly in his eyes almost blinding him. He tried to look ahead of him but he only saw the faint outline of people in the room. He heard slow but steady tapping sounds of wood hitting together and he glanced over his shoulder to see Naruto sitting at a drum set, hitting his drumsticks together forming a slow beat. Gaara quickly looked back at the crowd, gripped the microphone on the pole in front of him, and opened his mouth.
"Your face, lights up the sky on the highway."
As he sung, a piano's melody accompanied his voice and he turned to see Neji look back at him, they shared a nod and resumed.
"Some day, you'll share your world with me, some day."
The sounds of Sasuke's guitar and Shino's bass were heard after that, playing completely in sync with each other. Soon everybody joined in, playing their own instruments.
"You mesmerize me, with diamond eyes.
I try to fool myself to think I'll be alright.
But I am losing all control;
my mind, my heart, my body and my... soul."
A faint trace of dark purple overshadowing white.
"Never in my life have I been more sure,
so come on up to me and close the door.
Nobody's made me feel this way before,
you're everything I wanted. And more."
He looked closer. Magnified the picture. There was no mistake.
"To speak or not to; where to begin?
The big dilemmas I'm finding myself in."
There she was. The one person he was waiting the past three songs to see. He had almost given up hope. But there she was. She sat in the very middle of the crowd, and even though everyone was swaying and moving around. She stayed completely still. Her face was filled with longing but hesitation.
"For all I know you only see me as a friend.
I try to tell myself wake up fool; this fairy tale's got to end."
Gaara looked harder. Something rolled down the side of her face, it was faint, but he knew it was there. He forced himself to look closer despite the fact that they were separated by so many things. It glistened and he knew what it was.
A tear. This time, he hesitated.
"Never in my life have I been more sure,
so come on up to me and close the door.
Nobody's made me feel this way before,
you're everything I wanted."
The longing in her eyes seemed to intensify with that one phrase. She seemed to be registering whether or not to decode the song and break it down in her mind, or shrug it off as all the other love songs bands made. But what made her think twice about classifying it into the latter was that his eyes were still connected to hers. His heart was persuading hers.
"Never in my life have I been more sure,
so come on up to me and close the door.
Nobody's made me feel this way before!
You're everything I wanted!! And more!!"
At this point. At this part of the song. Gaara closed his eyes and furrowed his eyebrows. It was a high pitch and he had to strain his voice in order to hit it. It was a little shaky but close to perfect. He felt his entire being pushing into the song, emanating all of his emotions. He held it a little longer before taking a breath.
He opened his eyes, her's were clearly staring back.
"You're everything I wanted."
