JUST BEFORE
How could this have happened? How could the absolute worst day of my life been utterly trance formed into the perfect day? Even though I should have seen it coming. We had just moved from Biloxi, Mississippi to this terrible place where there is no fun to be had! At least they have a good shopping selection. But instead of shopping my family decided to torture me with a family outing, and after a vision or two of my sister getting mud on the hem of her dress and a new pair of shoes that I would be getting soon, I had effectively lost my parents and wandered into the wilderness. Or was it a desert. I have no clue! All I know is there were bugs that I had never seen before and never wanted to see again. After effectively squealing about a million times, getting dust on my skirt, and wandering too far off to figure out where I was I gave up and sat down on the dust (that would be hell to get out later). I heard a dull thumping, sending vibrations up my legs. I was almost too late jumping out of the way of a devil of a horse that barreled past me and skidded to a stop several feet away when the rider noticed me.
That's when it happened. He jumped down and raced to my side, where I was curled up in a ball trying not to get trampled, and tried to pry my hands from around me as I was shot into a vision. It was short but very sweet and I would have given anything to stay there just a little longer. I was bobbing around a kitchen when suddenly my husband swept me into his arms, but it ended before I could look to see who the man I would marry was.
Then the riders arm wrapped around me, as I was still and was examining only what was proper for him to touch, to see if I was injured in any way. I slowly started to check for myself when he breathed a sigh of relief and spoke. What came out was ultimately the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. "Miss are you hurt? I'm so sorry! Squiggly and I could not see your dust-covered form. Please answer me are you hurt or injured or in pain? Please answer m-"
I had waited long enough for him to be quiet and could not stand his pleads any more so I interrupted. "I will as soon as you stop that insistent babbling … and who names their horse Squiggly? That is more along the lines a name for a mouse than a horse." I quickly stated, getting up. As soon as I lifted my head I fainted.
There were no other word for what I saw but angelic. He had a ring of shining golden hair, gleaming deep brown eyes, and had the face of a heavenly being. When he held me I was in my own personal heaven where everything was ok and all my concerns, feelings, and just plain thought went away and pure bliss remained. All I wanted to know right then was his name and marital status (hell, if I was being honest, the later didn't really matter at the moment). ;p
When I finally woke up, I could make out the faint hum of a little girl and the man of my dreams talking in the other room. An older lady was dabbing a cloth on my forehead. When she realized I was here, she let out a sigh of relief and said, "Oh, honey, you gave us all quite a scare. Thankfully you're ok… Jasper, your little friend, is awake." Seconds later, my other-worldly love stumbled into the room. Everything went black again.
Jasper: the keeper of treasure. The keeper of my heart.
