"Ha! I beat you again," yowled Squirrelkit triumphantly at her sister, Leafkit. Leafkit looked down at the ground. Squirrelkit won every Moss Ball game they played.

Maybe I'm just now cut out to be a warrior, she thought. Ever since their first journey out of the Nursery, being a warrior was all Squirrelkit had ever talked about, but the concept of being a warrior just didn't spark the same feeling inside of Leafkit. Once in a while Leafkit even thought that it was her destiny to become a kittypet, like her father had been before he had come to ThunderClan, but she had a feeling that just wasn't it either.

"Kits, time to come in," called their mother, Sandstorm.

"Aw, but it's not even Sunset yet," whined Squirrelkit. Squirrelkit always wanted to stay up late to keep doing what she called training, but Leafkit always just wanted to get a good night's rest. She and her sister were just about as different as possible, but somehow they got along very well. Most times, they could also read each other's emotions. Leafkit could sense Squirrelkit's disappointment about coming in for the night.

As they started to walk into the Nursery, Leafkit caught a movement out of the corner of her eye. She turned around to see Dustpelt come in through the Gorse Tunnel, limping. Behind him walked Thornclaw, Ashfur, and finally, Brambleclaw. Squirrelkit snorted and stalked into her den when she saw Brambleclaw. She had never really liked him. Her mother called her again, and Leafkit couldn't help but feel bad. She felt like she should be helping Dustpelt, not walking into the Nursery like a kit.

But I am a kit, Leafkit reminded herself. I'm not ready to become a warrior yet.

The next day, Leafkit padded out of the Nursery tired. She had been up all night, tossing and turning, thinking about Dustpelt's injured paw. Was there a way that she could still live in the Clan, just help cats instead of hurting cats? She turned to go to the fresh kill pile when something caught her eye, or more specifically someone, and that someone was Cinderpelt. Cinderpelt was walking next to Dustpelt, who wasn't limping anymore. A medicine cat, she realized. A medicine cat can heal instead of hurt! Squirrelkit talked about being a warrior so much, that Leafkit had completely forgotten about medicine cats!Ignoring the fact that she was hungry, Leafkit bounced over to Cinderpelt.

"What did you do to Dustpelt's leg?" she asked. "It looks all better now!"

Cinderpelt let out a purr, "Just some stinging nettle mixed with comfrey."

"Wow! It really works?"

"Most of the time."

Leafkit was fascinated by the medicine. She couldn't stop thinking about it. At the end of the day, she had made up her mind. I'm going to be a medicine cat, she thought.

Once her apprentice ceremony came, both Firestar and Cinderpelt had already approved her as medicine cat apprentice. Leafpaw knew that she had found her path. Now she could discover her destiny.
