Melody was lost, her bookmark in the pages of history had slipped free and all that she thought was right and just was disintegrating because of one silly trans-dimensional ship.
The box wasn't stamped with a warning, she was just the devil's bigger-on-the-inside mode of transport, but, oh, what fools they were to underestimate her.
Tendrils of gold pressed her down onto her knees, and she was shown all that she might become; how she might fashion herself into a vengeful god.
And then with the ghost of a mother's arms she showed her another way, a way to fly.
