AN: Sorry for the fluff at the end, but I like it. Enjoy 3 :)
A Ticking Clock, and a Rosebush

Life goes on and on
But it feels wrong to the girl
Everything is wrong
She tells anyone who'll listen
At night she dreams of a man who took her hand and ran
A man who changed his face
A man who changed her life
…
But now he's gone

Always in her dreams a clock ticks and she wonders
Are these dreams or nightmares that haunt me

Soon life continues,
People move on
Her mum lives with her father,
A baby on the way
Such a happy family
Micky's found a girl
And Rose...
Rose sleeps on the couch,
Watching the ticking hands of an old clock,
Believing they must be lying,
Nothing could move so slow.

She doesn't want to move into one of the many empty rooms
"I wont give up on him!"
Rose screams at her mother in one of their many fights.
Why can't they just leave her alone?
Why can't they just let her be.
Why can't he just come!
Why can't they just run again
Why...
She stays there, wondering,
Will she ever see him again

When people ask what she's waiting for
She says the right man
They scoff and tell her to give him their numbers
They play along sometimes and ask where she'll look
She points to the sky and they raise an eyebrow
Wondering at her sanity
And she begins to wonder
Was it all just a dream
One day her mum tells her to find a job
Rose talks to her father
And joins Torchwood.
She finds with work,
Time seems to move faster

She finds friends
People she never knew
People she would have never known
She makes up with her mum
She starts speaking to Micky again
But all the time
She watches the clock

The hands move faster now
But when she closes her eyes...
Doctor!
He's there
A hand stretched out to meet her
But one to far to reach

Her mother makes her tea
Her father gives her an energy drink.
Micky gives her a hug
But it doesn't help much.
All that helps is reaching for the stars
Fooling herself to believe that he's out there somewhere
If she just looks hard enough, she'll find him
What else can she do...

One day at work, she meets a man,
He isn't the Doctor,
But he's nice, and he seems to care about her
It surprises her more than him when she smiles
He makes her laugh
She forgets the Doctor, even if it is only for a few moments.
To her, its like a new sun's rising
The new beginning that she's been secretly wishing for
The hands of the clock no longer make such threatening noises as they move
She no longer looks at the watch every night
She chooses a room, but suspects she wont stay there for much longer
Not if things continue with her new man at this speed.
One day, she takes the watch,
She places it over a rosebush
And leaves it to dangle off the stems
An ornament never forgotten,
but one to never slow its growth again.
She has another fish to chase, though she'll never forget this one.
And as she leaves the garden,
She knows she wont look back at her time with the Doctor as a thing to be missed
But a thing to remember with joy.
