A/N: This one is a bit strange with no actual plot. But sometimes these just need to be written out of your brain to give room. And so why not share some of the weirdness.

Spoilers: for 1x19 The Only Light in the Darkness.

Disclaimer: I own lots of boxes, but the rights to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are not in any of them.

"Abracadabra and the box is empty." Jubilee erupted from an unseen crowd.

No, no that wasn't right, there was supposed to be something in there, but what was it? He couldn't remember.

The box was then covered with a large deep red cloth adorned with some yellow frill. It looked almost majestic. Once uncovered yet again a giant octopus filled the inside space of the box.

No, that wasn't it either. He blinked.

"Abracadabra." The show continued on and the octopus was now an eagle.

And the eagle turned to an egg. The egg to a stone.

This magic show was all wrong. He thought. Shouldn't it be a rabbit? Or were they only found in hats?

The box was now changing size and color. Brown turned to green and big turned to small, medium to large and pink to blue.

This was the weirdest thing ever. He was sure he wouldn't have gone to a magic show without it containing at least a monkey of some sort.

But somehow it didn't matter. Nothing did. The only thing that actually did matter was what was in that box?

But what was in the box?

The show had stopped. He was surrounded by nothing. A great, wide, vast space of white. The only thing there, the box. Standing right in front of him, beckoning him to open it. He approached tentatively. Slowly he pried the front of and as he did so the white color around him changed into light and warm shades of orange sands, blue skies, clear waters, and green trees. A truly magical place.

The front finally came all the way off and out of the box came...

Simmons!

He bolted upright in his bed. A dream, it was only a dream.

He fingered the lanyard around his neck. Such trouble for such a little thing. Laying back down he stared up at the ceiling. Thinking he wouldn't mind finding out how exactly that lie detector chair was put together. Pretty neat work from what he'd gathered only by looking at it while being asked all of those more or less ridiculous questions.

He closed his eyes again, willing the box to reappear. It didn't happen.

There was no box. No place to put Simmons for safe keeping.

Their realty at the moment was as prone to change as the contents of a magician's box. What was in it, he realized, was of no or little significance if you didn't know what to do with it.

A/N: Wrote this pretty much the day after the epi aired, but didn't have time to proofread it until now, and I wanted it up before the new epi.
