Five and Counting
by Crimson Nightmare
I will count, from five to one, and then when I open my eyes, Obito, your body will be put back together.

The moment you finished that last word, I knew.

The moment I saw that look on your face --- a twitch of muscle just on the either side of your jaw, a determined gulp at your throat, a drop of sweat rolling down --- I knew.

Your body is now crushed. Your bones, like thousands of pieces of broken eggshell. Powdered and white.Your flesh and organs and skin and blood are all neatly covered by the stone. In the mud. Soaking the earth. What thorough way to die. What a way to go, Obito.

I felt. I felt. Death, grazing me at the side of my head. I felt. I felt. The half of your body edging in the brinks of life to look at me. You blink up at me. Eyes as bloody as the mess underneath that neat, round boulder. You speak with half a jaw, blood and broken pieces of your throat bubble out of your mouth. You are talking to me. Why are you talking to me? I am not something to talk about as your final monologue you idiot...

Your eye was the goddamn gift for me. You're sick, Obito. Sick for giving me such a thing with such a gentle smile. You're smiling. Even as you die. Rin cuts out my wasted eye and puts your warm and wet eye into my recently-emptied socket. Her chakra tickle over my pain. Inside my head, arteries pulsing faintly, warm, wet, and foreign, is one of your eyeballs, Obito. I hate you. You play such a prank on me and I cannot even the scores. Ever.

How could you leave me?

A/N: Old old old old work. Written right after I read the Kakashi Gaiden. Obito's smile really was very gentle, which freaked me out a little since I was mentally constructing a logical picture of what was 'underneath' the rock. Anatomy disaster. Comments and constructive criticism are most welcome. And I am aware of the bad grammer. (covers eyes so she doesn't see them)
