Hey guys. First I must apologize for taking so long to write this but I was having trouble coming up with ideas, so I'm kind of keeping most of the elements of the original movie. I'm going to try to change up some things so I hope you enjoy this.
Sandra ran toward the water with Kyoya behind her. Sandra wore a bright blue swim shirt and black swim shorts. Kyoya wore a light green swim shirt and darker green swim trunks. They each carried a surfboard with them. They always got up early in the morning to surf and spend time together. They were staying with her grandpa for the summer since he lived on the beach and made surfboards. The two had been having fun all summer, just the two of them. They even used their time to bey battle and train as well. Sandra knew that Kyoya wouldn't survive without training at least a little bit.
As the day began coming to an end, the two walked down the beach toward Sandra's grandpa's. Sandra lost herself in her thoughts, remembering what tomorrow was. I have to tell Kyoya, but how am I supposed to tell him?
"Did you hear about the conditions tomorrow?" Kyoya asked.
"Yeah. Can you believe they're talking about waves that big?" Sandra replied, excited.
Kyoya smiled. "Best summer ever already, and it's not even over."
Sandra's smile faded. "Kyoya, about that," she began.
"Come on! Race you to the house!" Kyoya took off toward the house. Sandra didn't quicken her pace, just watched as he beat her. "I win."
Sandra smiled and rolled her eyes. "Yeah yeah," she said as she joined him on the porch. They went inside and put their boards up. Sandra's grandpa was in the next room working on a board while watching a movie. He was an older looking man with white hair and brown eyes. He wore a blue Hawaiian shirt and tan shorts. Kyoya went over to him.
"I thought I told you never to watch this without me?" Kyoya growled.
"Well, as long as you're here, I'm not," Sandra's grandpa replied with a smile. He never seemed to mind Kyoya's attitude one bit. Kyoya just smiled and watched the movie.
"Don't tell me it's..." Sandra began, leaning on the door frame.
"Wet Side Story," Kyoya and her grandpa answered, giving each other a fist bump.
"That," Sandra finished.
"Best movie ever made," Kyoya commented.
"I can't believe you think that," Sandra said, coming up beside him. "I didn't think it was your type of movie. I love to sing but when they sing it's for no reason. Plus, when they get in the water their hair is never even wet."
"Sandra my dear, this movie defines an entire culture," her grandpa said.
Sandra just sighed. "Well, can we not watch it right now?" she asked Kyoya. "I really need to talk to you."
"Just watch my favorite part," Kyoya replied. Sandra watched as the two lead actors' eyes met, the girl falling off the stage. Sandra knew their names to be Tsubasa and Alex.
"And this is my favorite part right her," Sandra's grandpa said as the gangs pulled their friends away from each other and began to sing.
"Again, singing for no reason," Sandra whined as she heard a knock on the door. She went and answered it. There was a blonde women standing there in a tight pink dress with an expensive looking silver purse.
"Hello Sandra," the lady greeted her.
Sandra let her in and forced a smile. "Aunt Gracie."
"Look at you. You look absolutely...unacceptable!" Gracie said.
Sandra blinked in confusion. "What?" she asked.
"Not you dear," Gracie assured her. Sandra then noticed the thing in her ear. "Tell them that their offer in unacceptable." She then turned to Sandra again. "Well, aren't you going to give you aunt a hug?" Sandra gave her a hug as her grandpa and Kyoya came over.
"Who's she?" Kyoya asked.
"This is my aunt Gracie. Aunt Gracie, this is Kyoya," Sandra introduced them. Gracie hardly even acknowledged Kyoya's presence as Sandra continued. "What are you doing here? I thought you were coming tomorrow?"
"Well you thought wrong. We're leaving tomorrow," Gracie said. "I hope you packed."
"What is she talking about?" Kyoya asked, his eyes narrowed. "What does she mean by leaving tomorrow?"
"Kyoya, as of tomorrow my niece will be attending an exclusive and expensive school in Florida," Gracie answered.
"Gracie, maybe we should talk about this," Sandra's grandpa suggested.
"There is nothing to talk about," Gracie snapped. "This has always been a deal." She then smiled as she turned to Sandra. "Isn't that right, Sandra?"
Sandra held back her emotions as she nodded. "Sure." Feeling as if she would burst open, she turned and headed out the door, grabbing a journal as she went. She sat on the railing on the porch of the house, staring out at the ocean.
"I can't believe you didn't tell me," Kyoya said as he came over to her, looking angry.
"You don't know how hard I tried, but I didn't know how," Sandra replied.
"What was the deal your aunt mentioned?" Kyoya questioned.
"When we lost my mom my aunt and I made a deal that I could stay here for the first part of high school, but when it was time to get serious, I would leave and attend the same school that she did," Sandra explained.
"And when were you going to tell me?" Kyoya growled.
"I tried, Kyoya, but I didn't know how!" Sandra retorted, going around the porch.
"They can't just force you to leave!" Kyoya protested.
"They're not forcing me. It's my choice," Sandra replied.
"Then change your mind!" Kyoya persisted.
"I was really lucky to get into this school, Kyoya," Sandra told him.
"Aren't you happy here?" Kyoya asked. "This is your home! It's where you surf! It's where you're grandfather lives! It's where I am!"
Sandra blinked back her tears and looked at the journal. "This is my mom's journal." She opened it up to a page and read, "But most of all, I wish that my daughter is a huge success."
"She sounds amazing," Kyoya whispered, his voice gentle.
"She was," Sandra rasped, taking a moment to regain her voice. "My mom wanted to go to college, but then she had me and she never got to live out that dream."
"That's not your fault," Kyoya pointed out.
"I know it's not, but I can do what she never had the chance to," Sandra continued.
Kyoya stayed silent for a moment, seeing that he wasn't getting anywhere. "What about us?" he asked at last.
"How can there be an us after today?" Sandra countered, the tears threatening to flow out of her.
"I'll wait for you," Kyoya promised.
Sandra shook her head. "I know what it's like to miss someone, Kyoya. I care about you too much to ever put you through that."
Kyoya stared at her in shock. "So are you saying that you care about me enough to break up with me?"
"I don't want to Kyoya, but what choice do I have?" Sandra asked.
Kyoya stayed silent as he turned away, leaning against the railing and staring out at the beach. Sandra walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around him.
"Thanks," she whispered. "For the best summer of my life." She then turned and went inside to pack her things.
So anyway, there's the first chapter. I know, finally! Please R&R :)
